Temples & Sanctuaries
Different to all the other features, the temples and churches of Ica maintain a distinctive style, something worth appreciating. Take a leisurely stroll under the warm sun Ica and visit their churches and convents.
The Cathedral of Ica
It was built in 1759, is considered the last construction established by the Order of the Jesuits before leaving the country, characterized by neoclassical and baroque styles.
Compañia de Jesus Church
Considered s a modern church, for its bamboo based building seismic, and was built as a result of last year's earthquake in 2007 that destroyed the original full Baroque style church.
San Fransisco Church
Eighteenth century, although it has had over the centuries several restorations and architectural complex is made up of a church, a convent and a garden.
San Juan de Dios Church
It was founded with former San Juan de Dios Hospital, run by the Franciscan Mothers. Its foundation dates back 250 years. Its foundation was the service of the poorest of the province, its operation was until 1973. Currently there is the church of San Juan de Dios. The site of the former governs the Charity Hospital of Ica.
Luren Sanctuary Church
The sanctuary is an ancient temple dating back to the sixteenth century, which guards the famous image of the Lord of Luren, patron of the city of Ica. In this church every year attracts thousands of pilgrims on Holy Thursday and third Monday of October in its traditional procession through the village.
