Ticket for Machu Picchu Mountain

The ticket for Machu Picchu Mountain (Circuit 1 - Machu Picchu Mountain Route) allows you to enjoy the panoramic view of Machu Picchu from the top of the citadel. Additionally, you will be able to visit the famous mountain that shares its name, "Machu Picchu" or old mountain.

Although Machu Picchu Mountain is longer in distance and higher in elevation, it is much easier to hike than "Huayna Picchu" mountain. It also offers wider and less steep paths.

Where is Machu Picchu Mountain located?

Machu Picchu Mountain is located in front of Huayna Picchu Mountain, southeast of the citadel of the same name. The view from Machu Picchu Mountain is unparalleled, offering a higher perspective of the Inca city and Huayna Picchu.

How to reach Machu Picchu Mountain?

To reach Machu Picchu Mountain, you must purchase the Circuit 1 - Machu Picchu Mountain Route ticket in advance. This ticket grants access to the upper part of the Machu Picchu citadel and Machu Picchu Mountain. Make your reservation at least 2 months in advance.

You will need to arrive at the Machu Picchu citadel, either on foot or by bus, and then walk to the entrance checkpoint via Circuit 1 - Machu Picchu Mountain Route, which starts from the upper part of the citadel. The ascent takes between 3 to 4 hours, depending on the individual's physical condition.

Where to buy the ticket for Machu Picchu?

Before purchasing your ticket, first check if there are tickets available for your intended travel date. Keep in mind that this ticket sells out quickly, so you should make your reservation at least 2 months in advance.

To buy the ticket and check availability, you must access the Joinnus website, which is the only site where you can purchase tickets for entry to Machu Picchu.

The entry schedule for “Machu Picchu Mountain” is as follows:

  • Group 1 from 7 am – 8 am
  • Group 2 from 8 am – 9 am

Remember that the maximum capacity for Machu Picchu Mountain is 400 people per day, divided into two groups of 200 each. We recommend booking in advance, at least 1 month before

Useful Information about the Machu Picchu Mountain Ticket

  • The entry ticket to Machu Picchu cannot be purchased separately.
  • This ticket DOES NOT include the classic Machu Picchu photo.
  • It is only valid for entry on the chosen date of entry.
  • The Ministry of Culture of Cusco offers special discounts for those who are minors.
  • The best time to climb to the top of Machu Picchu Mountain is during the dry season, as rainfall is less frequent and the weather is perfect. This season spans from April to October.
