Our guides will provide explanations about the constructions, customs, and mysteries of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
To start our Sacred Valley of the Incas tour, we will pick you up at around 7:00 a.m. and embark on a journey of approximately one hour to explore the ancient archaeological site of Pisac. Here, you will learn about the intricate methods the Incas used in their constructions. Afterward, we will pass through the town of Pisac, renowned for its artisanal market where you can find a variety of products like paintings, keychains, handicrafts, and more.
At noon, we will have lunch in the Urubamba Valley. Following a brief rest, we will visit the archaeological area of Ollantaytambo, a place of strategic control and a fortress built with meticulously carved stones. To begin this tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, our transfer will pick you up at approximately 7:00 a.m. from your hotel. We will embark on a 1-hour journey to reach Pisac. During the trip, we will have the opportunity to admire the beauty of the Sacred Valley and understand its historical and current significance for humanity.
Continuing the route, we will visit the archaeological site of Pisac, situated at the top of the town. Here, we can also appreciate how the local inhabitants utilize Inca agricultural techniques to cultivate on the mountain slopes, achieving optimal productivity. Following this, we will visit the artisan market of Pisac, a vibrant and colorful market where a variety of handmade crafts are available for purchase. At noon, we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch at a tourist restaurant in the Urubamba Valley.
After lunch, we will head to Ollantaytambo, located 76 km. from the city of Cusco. Here, we will observe large carved stone blocks, some weighing over 100 tons, that were transported to this mountain for astronomical purposes. This remarkable feat continues to amaze people worldwide. Ollantaytambo is strategically positioned amidst three valleys and serves as a gateway to the jungle, following the course of the river that leads to Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Ollantaytambo features strategic control points, making it a fortified archaeological site.
Furthermore, Ollantaytambo is recognized as the "Best Tourist Town in the World." It is often described as a city frozen in time due to its Inca-Colonial urban layout, featuring advanced hydraulic engineering that distributes water through canals running along its streets while maintaining its original landscape.
On our return to the city of Cusco, we will visit Chinchero: located to the northwest of Cusco. During the time of the Tahuantinsuyo, the Inca ruler Tupac Yupanqui planned the construction of palaces for the elite. Today, the remains of the palace can be observed, upon which the colonial church was built. Chinchero is a tourist attraction that keeps ancient traditions alive in agriculture, maintaining a diverse range of Andean potato varieties and the art of weaving with Inca iconography and symbolism. It holds significance as a key destination for travelers.
