RECOMMENDED ROUTES TO DISCOVER PERU

What travel packages to Peru do we recommend for a first trip?

A first journey through the country can bring together historic cities, deserts, mountains, lakes, and the rainforest. This selection presents four different ways to experience Peru without making a single destination the focus of the entire page.

THE COUNTRY'S GREAT CONTRASTS

Classic Peru: Coast, Andes, and Highlands

A broader itinerary can begin in Lima and along the southern coast, continue through the Andes, and end by Lake Titicaca. It is a clear way to experience Peru’s geographic and cultural diversity within a single trip.

Ideal for: first-time visitors who want to combine heritage, landscapes, and cities from different regions.

SOUTHERN PERU: HISTORY AND ANDEAN LANDSCAPES

Southern Peru Packages: Arequipa, Colca, and the Andes

Southern Peru brings together colonial architecture, volcanic landscapes, deep valleys, and Inca heritage. This combination allows travelers to experience different sides of the Andes without limiting the journey to a single city.

Ideal for: travelers interested in history, architecture, Andean landscapes, and itineraries of around one week.

Recommended packages:

CUSCO, MACHU PICCHU AND THE ALTIPLANO

Andes and Highlands Packages

Cusco, Machu Picchu, and Puno connect archaeological sites, high-altitude landscapes, and communities linked to Lake Titicaca. This route works well for travelers with limited time who still want to experience more than one area of southern Peru.

Ideal for: travelers looking for a compact itinerary that combines Andean history with highland landscapes.

Recommended packages:

ANDES AND AMAZON: NATURE AND CULTURE

Peruvian Andes and Amazon Packages

Itineraries that continue to Tambopata or Manu add tropical forests, wildlife, and river navigation to a journey that may also include the coast and the Andes. The Amazon becomes a distinct region of the trip rather than a secondary add-on.

Ideal for: travelers who want to experience contrasting ecosystems and spend between 10 and 15 days exploring the country.

COMPARE BY TRIP LENGTH

How many days do you want to dedicate to your vacations in Peru?

The length of your trip determines how many regions can be included without turning the itinerary into a rushed sequence of transfers. The options should start at six days and reflect the actual package inventory.

ONE-WEEK VACATIONS

6- to 7-Day Packages

In one week, it is possible to connect two or three main destinations in southern Peru. The itinerary should prioritize a clear route and limit changes between regions.

Ideal for: travelers with a short vacation who want to visit more than one destination without making the trip too long.

Recommended packages:

How many days do you need to visit Machu Picchu

To visit Machu Picchu, the minimum recommended is to dedicate a full day to the citadel (about 2 to 3 hours of guided touring), but ideally you should plan 2 to 4...

MORE VARIETY WITHOUT A LONG TRIP

8- to 10-Day Packages

This range makes it possible to combine the coast and the Andes, add the highlands, or include a first experience in the Amazon. It also gives travelers enough time to include activities without packing everything into just a few days.

Ideal for: travelers with around ten days who want to balance destinations, activities, and travel time.

Before climbing to the top of the mountain huayna picchu you have to take into account the following tips and recommendations for the entrance to Wayna Picchu.

MORE TIME TO CONNECT DIFFERENT REGIONS

11- to 12-Day Packages

With eleven or twelve days, it is possible to combine the coast, the Andes, and the Amazon, or plan a more active journey with multi-day experiences. The best option depends on the travel pace and the number of transfers the traveler is comfortable with.

Ideal for: travelers looking for a broader itinerary or those who want to include nature and adventure in the same trip.

A COMPREHENSIVE MULTI-DESTINATION JOURNEY

13- to 15-Day Packages

May. 2024
15 days discovering Peru with our passenger María

It was fascinating to travel through Peru for 15 days! The trip allowed us to discover very different places: Lima, with its history and modern side; the dunes, Nazca, and the Ballestas Islands; and then Cusco, with its Inca treasures. We also experienced unforgettable moments at Rainbow Mountain and Machu Picchu, before continuing to the Manu jungle and ending our journey in Puno, by Lake Titicaca.

All of this was possible thanks to the professionalism of the CuscoPeru.com team. Many thanks to Carlos and his team, who were attentive to us at all times, even on a Sunday, to make sure everything went well. We also thank our guides Juan Carlos, George, Fernando, and Ellis, and the drivers Ángel and Eddie, for always transporting us carefully. It’s wonderful to remember so many good moments lived in this beautiful country and, above all, the hospitality of its people.

During your vacation, you can explore different regions of the country. On the coast, you can visit Lima, Paracas, Huacachina, and Nazca. In the southern Andes, you can discover Arequipa, the Colca Valley, Cusco, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Puno, and Lake Titicaca.
