Our transfer service will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the starting point of your tour. We offer two departure times: the morning tour begins at approximately 9:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m., while the afternoon tour begins at approximately 1:00 p.m. and finishes at 6:30 p.m.
The tour begins at the Cusco Cathedral, adorned with finely carved woodwork, impressive altars, and beautiful paintings created by local artists of the Cusco School, many of which contain subtle elements of indigenous thought.
Next, we will take a short walk through the streets of the historic center to Qoricancha, or the Temple of the Sun. According to historical chronicles, visitors had to enter this sacred site barefoot and fasting, as it was considered an indigenous sanctuary dedicated to the deities of the Sun, the Moon, the Stars, the Rainbow, Thunder, and Lightning. Here, you will admire the Incas’ extraordinary stonework, crafted with such precision that not even a sheet of paper can fit between the stones. Despite centuries of earthquakes, these walls remain remarkably intact to this day.
After the visit to Qoricancha, we will board our transportation to Sacsayhuamán, located 3 km from the city of Cusco. The esplanade of Sacsayhuamán offers a panoramic view of Cusco. This impressive site was built with massive limestone blocks weighing between 25 and 130 tons. Made up of three superimposed terraces in a serpentine, zigzag design, Sacsayhuamán served as a gathering place for large crowds and important celebrations such as Warachikuy and Inti Raymi.
We will also visit Qenqo, whose name means “labyrinth.” Located one kilometer from Sacsayhuamán, it is a limestone construction featuring stone carvings spread across 500 meters, along with structures believed by historians to have been used for astronomical observation, religious ceremonies, and embalming or mummification rituals.
Then we will continue to Puka Pukara, a name derived from two Quechua words: puka (red) and pukara (fortress), meaning “red fortress.” This strategic site was used to control and monitor access to and from the Imperial City of Cusco. It also served as a territorial boundary for dividing regions and regulating movement.
The final stop on this tour is Tambomachay, located 9 km from the city of Cusco. It is better known as the Baths of the Inca because of its water fountains, and is also referred to as the waters of eternal youth due to the constant flow of fountains and canals. At the end of the visit, our Cusco City Tour concludes, and we will drop you off at the Plaza de Armas.
After the tour, you can take a walk around the Plaza de Armas and its surrounding streets, where you will be able to admire the work of Cusco artisans in the local handicraft shops. You can also enjoy Peru’s famous and unmatched cuisine at nearby restaurants, or simply relax on one of the benches in the Plaza de Armas, take in the view, and snap the classic souvenir photo in a warm atmosphere despite the cool Cusco nights. And if you enjoy nightlife, around the square you will find many bars and clubs filled with both tourists and locals looking to have a great time.
