For this exciting start, we'll be ready to pick you up at 1:30 PM.
We begin our tour at Cusco Cathedral, adorned with fine carved woodwork and impressive altars and beautiful paintings, created by local artists of the Cusco School.
Next, we'll take a walk through the streets of the historic center towards Qoricancha or the Temple of the Sun, dedicated to the deities of the Sun God, the Moon, the Stars, the Rainbow, Thunder, and Lightning. After the visit to Qoricancha, the transportation will take us to Sacsayhuaman located 3 km from the city of Cusco. The esplanade of Sacsayhuaman offers a panoramic view of the city of Cusco. Sacsayhuaman was built with large blocks of limestone weighing 25 to 130 tons. Comprising three superimposed terraces in a zigzag shape, this place, being large and spacious, was used for gatherings and various festivities such as WARACHIKUY and INTI RAYMI.
We will also reach Qenqo, which means labyrinth, located one kilometer from Sacsayhuaman. It features a construction based on limestone rock that shows stone sculpture, accompanied by structures that, according to historians, served for astronomical, religious, and embalming or mummification studies.
We'll visit Puka Pukara, derived from the Quechua words Puka (red) Pukara (fortress), meaning "red fortress." It served as a strategic site for control and surveillance of access and exit from the Imperial City of Cusco, used as a territorial border to divide regions and establish displacement regimes. Finally, we'll visit Tambomachay, a resting place located 9 km from the city of Cusco, known as the Inca Baths for its water sources or also known as the Waters of Eternal Youth due to the constant flow of its waters.
