Itinerary Tour Valle Sagrado Machu Picchu 2 Days

DAY 1: CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY - AGUAS CALIENTES

The tour starts early with an excursion to the Sacred Valley at 7:00 a.m. We will pick you up from your hotel and begin by visiting the Archaeological Center of Pisac, located 45 minutes away from Cusco. Pisac gets its name from the Quechua term for "Partridge," a bird that characterizes this district. This place will give you an idea of the advanced knowledge achieved by the Cusqueños (Incas) in their extensive agricultural terraces, architecture, and urban planning. It holds a special charm for having been part of the Qhapaq Ñan (Inca road system), which connected the jungle, now known as the Manu Biosphere Reserve, and served as a route to reach Qosqo (Cusco), the center or navel of the world. At midday, we will head to the town of Urubamba where you will enjoy a buffet lunch and savor the delicious Peruvian cuisine.

In the afternoon, we will visit the archaeological center of Ollantaytambo, which served as a storage place for agricultural products and was a strategic zone as a military and religious center to administer and control the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This is deduced from the constructions that were presumably used for agricultural deposits and for military purposes, such as walls and watchtowers. It was Inca Pachacútec who brought Ollantaytambo to its maximum splendor. Here in Ollantaytambo, we will board our train in the afternoon, heading to Aguas Calientes, a beautiful town where we will spend the night, concluding our day.

DAY 2: MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO

Early in the morning, we will transfer to the bus station to ascend to the Archaeological Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. The bus journey takes 25 minutes, and finally, we will arrive to witness the breathtaking sunrise. We will begin the guided tour of one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, Machu Picchu.

We will start the tour with our guide through the Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Our guide will share the history and architecture of the citadel, and you will be amazed by the constructions of the Cusqueños (Incas) and the surrounding natural environment. Machu Picchu is a marvel of engineering, art, and architecture in perfect harmony with nature. The citadel features an agricultural and urban area comprising plazas, temples, roads, stairways, terraces, aqueducts, among others. Its design includes areas such as agricultural terraces or platforms, which are supported in place by stone retaining walls, and the hydraulic system that includes canals and aqueducts for water transportation. Machu Picchu is considered a wonder of agricultural engineering. The guided tour lasts approximately 2 hours.

We return to Aguas Calientes by bus, and after a day filled with emotions and walks, you will have time in the afternoon to have lunch and rest.
