The tour begins early with an excursion to the Sacred Valley at 7:30 a.m. We will pick you up from your hotel and start by visiting the Archaeological Center of Pisac, which is 45 minutes from Cusco.
The name Pisac comes from Quechua and translates to PARTRIDGE, a bird that characterizes this district. This site provides a glimpse into the advanced knowledge achieved by the Incas through their extensive agricultural terraces, architecture, and urban design. It has a special charm as it was part of the Qhapaq Ñan, the road system that connected the jungle, now known as the Manu National Reserve, and also served as a route to reach Qosqo (CUSCO). At noon, we will head to the town of Urubamba where you will enjoy a buffet lunch, allowing you to savor delicious Peruvian cuisine.
In the afternoon, we will visit the Archaeological Center of Ollantaytambo, which served as a storage place for agricultural products and was a strategic area as a military and religious center to administer and control the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This is deduced from the constructions that are presumed to be for agricultural deposits and for military use, such as walls and watchtowers. Ollantaytambo is considered a city suspended in time due to its Inca colonial urban adaptation, and recognized as “Best tourist town in the World” that one cannot miss in life. It was Inca Pachacutec who took Ollantaytambo to its maximum splendor. Here in Ollantaytambo, we will board our train in the afternoon, bound for Aguas Calientes, a beautiful town where we will spend the night, concluding our first day.
