From the moment you set foot in Cusco airport, your journey with us will be an unforgettable experience. Our team will be there to welcome you with warm greetings, taking you directly to your accommodation for you to settle in and enjoy a well-deserved rest. Once you are settled, we will start our adventure, exploring the city of Cusco and the fascinating Inca sites that surround it. We will be at your hotel doors around 12:30 in the afternoon, ready to begin this unforgettable journey together.
We commence our tour at the majestic Cusco Cathedral, adorned with intricate woodwork, impressive altars, and beautiful paintings by local artists of the Cusco School, containing hidden elements of indigenous thought.
Next, we will take a short walk through the picturesque streets of the historic center towards Qoricancha or the Temple of the Sun. According to chronicles, to enter this sacred precinct, one needed to be fasting and barefoot, as it was considered an indigenous sanctuary dedicated to the deities of the Sun, Moon, Stars, Rainbow, Thunder, and Lightning. Here, we can admire the extraordinary stone craftsmanship by the Incas, with such high precision that not even a paper sheet can be inserted between the stones. Despite earthquakes, these structures remain stable to this day.
After concluding our visit to the Inca Temple Qoricancha, we will head to the transport that will take us to Sacsayhuaman, located 3 km from the city of Cusco. The Sacsayhuaman esplanade will offer us a panoramic view of the city of Cusco. This impressive structure was built with huge limestone blocks weighing between 25 and 130 tons. Sacsayhuaman consists of three superimposed terraces in a zigzag shape, making it a spacious place used for meetings and the celebration of important festivities such as WARACHIKUY and INTI RAYMI.
We will continue our journey to Qenqo, whose name means "labyrinth." It is located approximately one kilometer from Sacsayhuaman and is mainly built with limestone. This site exhibits an impressive stone sculpture, along with structures that, according to historians, were used for astronomical studies, religious ceremonies, as well as embalming and mummification.
Next, we will explore the complex of Puka Pukara, a name that comes from two Quechua words: "Puka" (red) and "Pukara" (fortress), translating to "red fortress." This site had a strategic location and was used for control and surveillance of the access and exit from the Imperial city of Cusco. Additionally, it served as a territorial border that divided regions and established the regimes of movement in the ancient Inca civilization.
As a final point of this adventure, we will visit Tambomachay, a resting place located 9 km from the city of Cusco. It is known as the "baths of the Inca" due to its water sources, and also as the "waters of eternal youth" due to the constant flow of its waters. This historical site offers us a fascinating look at Inca hydraulic engineering and is a testament to the advanced knowledge of the Incas in water management.
Finally, our day in Cusco and its surroundings will end in the Plaza de Armas, an important setting for its historical, cultural, and social significance.
