We will start this journey with a visit to the famous city of Cusco (City Tour). Our first stop will be the renowned Cusco Cathedral, one of the main temples of the city, housing priceless historical artifacts and artistic treasures within its walls. It is considered one of the most significant and beautiful cathedrals in South America by many. Next, we will visit the Qorikancha Temple or Temple of the Sun. This marvelous religious temple was considered sacred by the Incas, as it was a place of worship for the Inti God. Today, you will find interesting enclosures inside.
We will continue our guided visit to the archaeological sites located around the city of Cusco, starting with the majestic Sacsayhuaman. Its Quechua name means "satisfied falcon" and it was built with enormous stone blocks. In the Inca era, it was called the "House of the Sun" and served as a major religious center of great importance in the local tradition, also providing protection to the city of Cusco from its enemies. Next, we will visit Qenqo, which means "Labyrinth," coined by the Spaniards due to its labyrinthine underground galleries and small zigzagging canals. We will then proceed to explore Puka-Pukara, also known as the Red Fortress, named after the color tone of the stones.
