This tour starts in Cusco; our staff will visit you at your hotel at 8 o´clock in the morning to transfer you to the starting point of the tour. We will make a trip to the north of Cusco. First we will visit Moray, an important archeological site of the Sacred Valley. It is an agricultural experimental laboratory that the Incas used in order to adapt its products to other climates; then we will go to Maras, a place known for its salt mines. This element is extracted in its natural form and today it is known worldwide for its great taste and nutritional value. Our tour ends approximately at 2:00p.m.
Our staff will visit you at your hotel between 8:00 and 8:30 in the morning, to transfer you to the place where the tour begins. The first place we will visit will be Moray, which is located 38 km from the city of Cusco. Moray is considered an agricultural Inca laboratory which is made up of 4 muyus or circles which are round platforms placed concentrically. The deepest is 80 meters deep, with the lowest platform having a diameter of 36 meters; you can also see within the platforms. Temperature variations range between 0.5 to 1.5 degrees Celsius per platform, which can reproduce up to 20 types of microclimates.
Then we will visit the Maras salt mines; as the name indicates, they are salt mines formed by around 5000 small pops, each one producing approximately 50 to 80 kilos of salt per season. These are watered by an underground salt water spring; this process is completely natural and lasts about 2 months.
Maras Salt is in high demand and the variety of greater quality is the Rosada (Pink) Mineral Salt. After our adventure we return to Cusco at approximately 2p.m.
