We will meet you at the airport to welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Cusco. At approximately 1:00 p.m., we will pick you up from your hotel to begin our City Tour. We will start by visiting Cusco Cathedral, adorned with carved woodwork, altars, and paintings created by local artists from the Cusco School.
Next, we will explore Qoricancha, or the Temple of the Sun, built by the Incas in reverence to the sun. Later modified by the Spanish during the Viceroyalty, it still preserves walls built with remarkable Inca precision, alongside Catholic religious pieces.
After visiting Qoricancha, we will head to Sacsayhuamán, located 3 km from Cusco. The Sacsayhuamán esplanade offers a panoramic view of the city. This structure was built with massive limestone blocks, some weighing between 25 and 130 tons. Made up of three superimposed terraces in a zigzag pattern, it was the stage for major Inca ceremonies such as Inti Raymi (Sun Festival each June) and Warachikuy (a ritual where young men became warriors).
We will continue our journey exploring Qenqo, a Quechua word meaning “labyrinth,” named for its underground galleries and small zigzag-carved channels. Our next stop is Puka Pukara, the “red fortress,” strategically located to control access to and from the imperial city.
As the final stop of our tour, we will explore Tambomachay, a resting site located 9 km from the city of Cusco. It is also known as the “Inca Baths” due to its natural springs. We will conclude our City Tour near Cusco’s Plaza de Armas at approximately 6:00 p.m.
