June is the most important month for the people of Cusco because it was chosen by the Incas to celebrate the most important festival of the TAWANTINSUYO, the Inti Raymi festival or Festival of the Sun. Cusco continues to celebrate this festival every June 24th. This Inti Raymi Full Day Tour is designed for you to enjoy the most important festival of Cusco, the Inti Raymi.
Every June 24th, the day when the sun is at its farthest point from the Earth, the Inti Raymi or "Festival of the Sun" is celebrated. It is an ancient Andean religious ceremony in honor of Inti (the Sun God), which takes place every winter solstice. The "Inti Raymi" was the most important religious festivity during the time of the Incas, and to this day, this millennia-old ceremony is still performed, with the main stage being the architectural complex of Sacsayhuaman. The Inti Raymi lasts almost a full day, starting at 7:00 in the morning until approximately 4:00 in the afternoon.
In the early hours of the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel to visit the Temple of Coricancha (Qoricancha) and witness this ancient "Festival of the Sun," where you can experience the beginning of the most important festival in America. You will observe the Imperial procession and a cosmic energy as the Inca emerges and welcomes people from different parts of the world who come to participate in this celebration.
Accompanied by your group and our guide, we will head to the Main Square of Cusco, where the Inca enters through the Loreto Street (an ancestral street with Inca walls and rich history). Upon entering Waqaypata (the Cusco Main Square), the Inca performs the coca leaf ceremony alongside his wife, the Coya, and his retinue, inviting the general public to proceed to the esplanade of Sacsayhuaman. There, from a grandstand, you will appreciate in more detail this impressive Andean festival, featuring sacred rituals honoring the Sun God, traditional dances, music, and costumes that will leave an unforgettable experience.
EXPERIENCE FIRST-HAND THE MAJESTY OF THIS INCA RITUAL IN HONOR OF THE SUN, WHERE HISTORY COMES ALIVE BEFORE YOUR EYES. DON'T MISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE PART OF A TRADITION THAT CONNECTS THE PAST AND PRESENT.

Inti Raymi Full Day Tour Itinerary.
To witness the staging of this Festival of the Sun, we will start the day early, as the Inti Raymi lasts almost the entire day, starting around 9:00 a.m. and ending at approximately 4:00 p.m.
First, we will pick you up from your hotel at around 8:00 a.m. to head to the Temple of Coricancha (Qoricancha). At around 9:00 a.m., the ceremony known as the "Salute to the Sun" begins in front of the Temple of Coricancha or Garden of Gold. This marks the first scene of the Inti Raymi, where the Inca Pachacutec appears and pays homage to the sun god, and the first rituals with coca leaves take place. This scenario is located on Av. el Sol. You will witness the entire standing ceremony with the assistance and company of the group guide, which will take approximately 1 hour.
Accompanied by the guide and our group, we will walk to the Main Square (Plaza de Armas) to continue with the ceremony and witness the second scene. Here, we will observe the "Meeting of Times and Coca Leaf Ceremony", where the Inca is carried by eight attendants, accompanied by his wife, the Coya, and his entourage, gathering at the great ushnu or ceremonial stage to perform this ceremony. This part of the ceremony lasts approximately 45 minutes, and you will observe it standing from a strategic point in the Plaza de Armas.
After the ceremony in the Plaza de Armas, with the assistance of our guide, we will proceed to our transportation that will take us to Sacsayhuaman, where the third scene or main offering ceremony, gratitude, and requests to the "Sun God" will be staged. We will head to our reserved seats in the green stand sector, and from this vantage point, you can enjoy your box lunch without missing any part of the ceremony. The main ceremony lasts approximately 3 hours, during which you will witness the representatives of the four suyus paying homage to the Inca and the sun god. Once the ceremony is concluded, we will orderly board our transportation to return to the city of Cusco.
