Itinerary for the Inti Raymi tour

Day 1

Inti Raymi - Cusco

Main Square – Qoricancha – Sacsayhuamán

Our team will arrange pickup at approximately 7:00 AM. Because streets close for the Festival of the Sun in Cusco, vehicles may be unable to reach hotels inside parts of the historic center. Before the tour, we will tell you whether pickup is at your hotel or at a nearby accessible meeting point.

Bring the passport or identity document used for your booking and your confirmation. The guide will organize the group, explain the movements between venues, and give you a clear meeting place after each performance. Times are approximate and may change according to the official program and access controls.

First performance at Qorikancha

The first performance takes place outside Qorikancha, the temple dedicated to the Sun during the Inca period. At about 8:00 AM, the Salute to the Sun begins. The Inca appears with the Qoya and the imperial procession as the opening rituals are performed.

Your guide will explain Qorikancha's place in the ceremony and help the group follow the performance. This stage lasts about one hour. Your included Inti Raymi ticket is for the Green Section at Sacsayhuaman; the viewing arrangement at Qorikancha will depend on the 2027 event plan and will be confirmed before the day.

Second performance in the Plaza de Armas

After Qorikancha, we walk to the Plaza de Armas. The route is crowded, so stay close to the guide and remember the agreed meeting point. Wear comfortable footwear and carry only what you need for the day.

The second performance takes place in the square. The Inca, Qoya, and their procession gather around the ushnu or ceremonial platform. The performance lasts approximately 45 minutes and shows how the celebration links Cusco's former ceremonial spaces with the present city.

Transfer to Sacsayhuaman and box lunch

After the Plaza de Armas ceremony, your guide will lead the group to the authorized boarding point for tourist transport. Vehicle access can change under municipal instructions, so please follow the meeting time and do not leave the group without telling the guide.

You will receive a box lunch during this part of the program. Tell us about allergies or dietary requirements before booking. An adapted meal is confirmed only when it is included in your written booking details.

Main ceremony at Sacsayhuaman

At Sacsayhuaman, we will go to the seats in the confirmed section. The current package includes the Green Section. Keep your ticket until the event ends and follow the venue staff's access instructions.

The main ceremony lasts about three hours. Representatives of the four suyus enter the esplanade, and the performance includes the chicha rite, sacred fire, symbolic llama offering, and sankhu rite. Your guide will help you identify each part and understand its place within the ceremony honoring the Sun.

The esplanade is around 3,555 meters above sea level and is exposed to strong sunlight, wind, and quick temperature changes. Bring sunscreen, a hat, water, a warm layer, and light rain protection. Keep aisles clear and avoid moving through the stands during the busiest parts of the performance.

Return to Cusco

After the ceremony, meet the guide at the agreed place and board the return transport. Arrival in Cusco is expected at approximately 4:00 PM, but it may be later because thousands of attendees leave at the same time and traffic controls remain in place.

The final drop-off point will be confirmed before the tour. If you have a flight, train, dinner reservation, or private transfer that day, allow a wide margin and avoid a tight connection after the Inti Raymi full day tour.

Both Julio and Henry did a great job with super information the first 2 days. The buffet lunch the tour provided was top shelf, including sushi. On day 3 Eddy did a wonderful job explaining all of Machu Picchu. My tour was for Circuit 1, but he somehow managed to get me on Circuit 3 as well. It was a day I will never forget. Once we got on the train, it included snacks and drinks (water, coffee, or tea). Once we got to Aguascalientes, we were met by our tour guide Renato and Norma. Norma made sure we met our tour guide Renato, and made sure we got on the bus. Once we arrived at the entrance of Machu Pichu, we were met by our tour guide Renato. It was a pleasant experience. Pictures don’t do the site justice. Our tour guide Renato gave us an overview of the site and significance of the layout. Does the tour ticket guarantee a specific seat at Sacsayhuaman?

Your booking includes a seat in the Green Section at Sacsayhuaman when that section is stated in your final 2027 confirmation. Will you pick me up at my hotel door on June 24?

We will try to collect you at your hotel, but several streets in central Cusco close early that day. If the vehicle cannot enter your area, we will give you a nearby meeting point. You will receive the details before the tour, so please leave enough time and keep your phone available for coordination.

How much walking is involved and is the tour suitable for an older traveler?

The day includes walking between Qorikancha and Plaza de Armas, crowded pedestrian areas, steps, and long periods of standing or sitting in the stands. Sacsayhuaman is around 3,555 meters above sea level. An older traveler can attend if comfortable with these conditions, but contact us before booking so we can discuss access, pace, and any assistance needed.

What happens if the Inti Raymi 2027 schedule changes or it rains?

The event takes place outdoors, and the organizer may adjust the program for safety, weather, or operational reasons. We will pass on any confirmed changes. Bring both sun protection and a light waterproof layer even if the morning is clear, and avoid booking an important connection immediately after the tour.

Can I book if all Inti Raymi 2027 tickets have not yet been released?

You can request availability, but before paying you should receive written details of the service being confirmed, the planned section, and the conditions that apply if official ticketing changes. If the ticket has not yet been issued, we will tell you. A price or seat is guaranteed only when it appears in your confirmation.
