The Inca roads are a road network of high importance for the world and especially for South America, because they allowed to maintain interconnected all the territory of this part of the continent at the time of the Incas which was known as "Qapac Ñan (the great road), it is worth mentioning that this road network has received the recognition of being world heritage by UNESCO in 2014. Our tour in Peru of 14 days aims to recall that road network and is aimed for adventure lovers, for walkers and explorers, since in 14 days they will travel the routes of Peru. We will start in Lima the capital and we will travel south, crossing the heavenly coasts of Paracas, Ica and Nasca where we will fly over the mysterious Nasca lines. Then in Arequipa we will know this important city so that later we go to the Colca Canyon where we can appreciate the sacred bird of the Incas, "the condor". Then we will visit Puno and we will have the opportunity to sail the Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. Finally we will visit Cusco; after a bit of preparation we will go on "the four day Inca Trail" where we will cross the mountains and arrive at the wonder of the world "Machu Picchu" being this the end point of the crossing.

DAY 1: INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL TO LIMA - LIMA CITY TOUR

Assistance upon arrival at the "Jorge Chávez" International Airport in Lima. In the afternoon we pick you up from your hotel to start with the City tour that will last approximately 2 and a half hours; on this tour you will visit the main monuments and colonial buildings of the capital. Night in Lima

DAY 2: LIMA - PARACAS - BALLESTAS ISLANDS - PARACAS RESERVE - ICA - HUACACHINA SANDBOARDING TOURS:

Very early at approximately 3:30 in the morning we pick you up from your hotel to board the bus to the south of Peru, specifically to Paracas; where we will visit the Paracas Peninsula by boat. After lunch we will transfer by bus to the Oasis of Huacachina; you can also experience the so-called Sandboarding or Tabla sobre Arena (Table over sand). After the tour we will transfer you to your hotel in the city of Ica for the night. Night in Ica

DAY 3: PARACAS - NAZCA - NAZCA LINES - AREQUIPA TOURS:

Early in the morning we will have a 4 hour trip to the Nasca airfield where we will board a plane that will make a flight over the mysterious Nasca Lines. Finally at 10 o'clock at night, we will go to the bus station, where we will board the bus for the "White City of Arequipa".

DAY 4: AREQUIPA - CITY TOUR:

We will arrive in the city of Arequipa at approximately 6:00 in the morning. In the afternoon we will take a guided tour of the city, including the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, the La Compañía Church, among other places. Finally in the afternoon we will transfer you to your hotel. Night in Arequipa

DAY 5: AREQUIPA - COLCA CANYON TOUR:

Early in the morning, we start a 4 hour trip by bus to the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world (3,400 mts.), passing through Pampa Cañahuas in the Aguada Blanca National Reserve, vicuñas and alpacas habitat (camelids from South America). Upon arrival at the Colca Valley, we will transfer you to the selected hotel or lodge. Night at the Colca.

DAY 6: COLCA CANYON - "CRUZ DEL CONDOR/CONDOR CROSS" - AREQUIPA - PUNO:

Very early in the morning, we'll head towards the "Cruz del Condor", where usually the world's largest bird can be seen flying.
On the way back, we'll visit the towns of Yanque, Coporaque, Achoma and Maca. In the afternoon, we'll take the bus that will bring us to the city of Puno where we'll spend the night.

DAY 7: PUNO - TITICACA LAKE - UROS AND TAQUILE FLOATING ISLANDS TOURS:

Early we travel to Lake Titicaca, the island of Uros and Taquile, arriving at approximately 11:30 in the morning; we will have an exhibition of handicrafts and above we can observe experiences and customs of the inhabitants of the islands. At night we will take the bus to the city of Cusco.

DAY 8: CUSCO CITY TOUR :

Welcome and pick-up from Cusco airport to transfer you to your hotel. We'll visit the magical city of Cusco and the Inca buildings around the city, beginning at the Cathedral, Qoricancha, Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Puca - Pucara and finally Tambomachay. Overnight in Cusco.

DAY 9: SACRED VALLEY – CUSCO- PISAC- OLLANTAYTAMBO- CHINCHERO

The tour starts in Cusco, we will pick you up at 8:00 a.m. to tour the Sacred Valley. First we will visit the town of Pisac, famous for its crafts, where we will also visit its famous archaeological center.
At noon we will have lunch in Urubamba (the capital of the Sacred Valley of the Incas) then we will visit Ollantaytambo and upon returning to Cusco we will visit the town of Chinchero. We recommend you to rest early, since the next day the adventure on the Inca Trail will begin. Night in Cusco

DAY 10: INCA TRAIL- CUSCO – KM 82- WAYLLABAMBA- YUNCACHIMPA

This day we will begin the "Inca Trail"; we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at approximately 5:30 a.m. and travel by car until you reach KM 82, where the walk begins until you reach the Wayllabamba camp, located at 3100 meters above sea level. There we will have lunch Night in Yuncachimpa 3300 m.a.s.l. This day we will walk 6 hours approx.

DAY 11: INCA TRAIL- YUNCACHIMPA - LLULLUCHAPAMPA - WARMIHUAÑUSCA COVE - PACAYMAYU - RUNKURAKAY PASS – CHAQUICOCHA:

The walk starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at approximately 4:00 p.m.; it is the strongest day of the walk where we will arrive until 4200 m.a.s.l. in the Warmiwañuska cove. We will spend the night in Chaquicocha. This day we will walk 8 hours approx.

DAY 12: INCA TRAIL- CHAQUICOCHA - PHUYUPATAMARCA – WIÑAYWAYNA:

The walk starts at 9:00 a.m. This day the walk will be easier to perform, which will allow us to appreciate the beauty and nature that surrounds the Inca Trail. We can appreciate birds and beautiful orchids; we will also visit the Inca archaeological group of Wiñaywayna, where we will spend the night. This day we will walk 5 hours approx.

DAY 13: INCA TRAIL- WIÑAYWAYNA - MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO:

This day will be the most special; we will start at 3:30 a.m. to arrive at the IntiPunku (door of the sun) at 5:30 a.m., where we will wait to enter Machu Picchu. We will be the first group to enter and see the sunrise if the weather permits. We will visit Machu Picchu and learn more about its history and architecture. In Machu Picchu we will recharge our energy, it is a magical place that you will never forget. In the afternoon we will return by train to the Ollantaytambo station, where our staff will be waiting for you to take you on our way to your hotel in Cusco. Night in Cusco.

DAY 1: LIMA: INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL - CITY TOUR LIMA

We begin our tour with a panoramic view of the "Huaca Pucllana", a magnificent ceremonial and archaeological center built in the 4th century AD and considered "Sacred Town" by the Incas.
We will also visit the Historical Center of Lima, where you will appreciate more than fifty monuments and colonial buildings, highlighting the Paseo de la República, Plaza San Martín, the Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the Archbishop's Palace, the Cathedral Basilica, the Municipal Palace among others. DAY 2: LIMA - PARACAS - BALLESTAS ISLANDS - PARACAS RESERVE - ICA - HUACACHINA SAND BOARDING

Approximately at 3:30 in the morning we pick you up from your hotel to board the bus to the south of Peru, specifically to Paracas. We will arrive at approximately 07:30 in the morning, then we will transfer by boat to the Paracas Peninsula, where lies the most important wildlife sanctuary of the "Costa Peruana". We will take a guided boat trip to the Ballestas Islands, in the Paracas National Reserve, where we can observe sea lions, boobies, pelicans, penguins and other marine birds.
After lunch we will transfer by bus to the Oasis of Huacachina, located in the middle of beautiful tropical palm trees and surrounded by imposing dunes. DAY 3: PARACAS - NAZCA - NAZCA LINES - AREQUIPA

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will move to the bus station to go on a trip of about 4 hours to the Nasca airfield and board a plane that will make a flight of 35 minutes over the mysterious Nasca Lines. These are huge lineal drawings of animals, birds and geometric figures, drawn in the desert, that can only be appreciated from the air. Finally at 10 o'clock at night we will go to the bus station where we will board the bus for the White City of Arequipa, named for its white ashlar buildings, volcanic stone that is thrown by the Misti Volcano.

  • DAY 4: AREQUIPA – CITY TOUR

    You will arrive in the city of Arequipa at approximately 6:00 in the morning and we will transfer you to your hotel. In the afternoon we will take a guided tour of the city of Arequipa, including the Plaza de Armas, which is one of the most beautiful in Peru; the Cathedral, is an example of Peruvian architecture during the nineteenth century that houses precious treasures of gold and silver; and the Church of La Compañía, which is perhaps the most important in Arequipa because of its history and tradition, has a beautiful facade with columns carved with spirals, wreaths of laurels, flowers, birds, etc. In the afternoon we will make an excursion to the Arequipa countryside, visiting the Mill of Sabandía, it is a flour mill built in 1621, driven by the waters of a waterfall and that is currently in operation.
    We will also visit "La Mansión del Fundador", a 16th century hacienda belonging to the city's founder, Señor Teniente de Gobernados and Governor "Garcí Manuel de Carbajal", then sold to the Jesuits, who used it as a place of retreat, passing at the hands of the Goyenechea family. You will get to know its beautiful and restored chapel. Finally in the afternoon we will transfer you to your hotel.     Early in the morning, we pick you up from your hotel and start a 4 hour trip by bus to the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world (3,400 meters), passing through Pampa Cañahuas in the Aguada National Reserve Blanca, habitat of vicuñas and alpacas (camelids of South America). On the route we will appreciate pre-Columbian terraces that are still cultivated by the Collaguas natives. Refreshment during the trip. Upon arrival at the "Colca Valley", we will transfer you to the selected hotel or lodge. In the afternoon, we recommend resting and acclimating to the altitude. If you are in good physical condition, you will have free time to take a walk around the hotel or take a refreshing bath in the hot springs.     DAY 6: COLCA CANYON - "CRUZ DEL CONDOR" - AREQUIPA - PUNO:

    On the way back we will visit the towns of Yanque, Coporaque, Achoma and Maca. It will be a good opportunity to appreciate the life of the inhabitants of these towns that has not changed much since Inca times. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon we will board the bus that will take us to the city of Puno.

    DAY 7: PUNO - TITICACA LAKE UROS AND TAQUILE FLOATING ISLANDS TOURS - CUSCO

    Early in the morning, we will leave on an unforgettable excursion in a boat over Lake Titicaca to visit the Floating Islands of "los Uros" (former pre-Inca settlers of the lake, known as "La Tribu Acuática"). These Andean natives build their own islands by periodically adding new layers of totora (Scirpus Totora) plant fiber from the papyrus family. They also use this material to build their houses and boats. We will continue our excursion to the island of Taquile, inhabited by Quechua natives who have developed, from generation to generation, an efficient and original social system as well as a magnificent weaving technique. After lunch at a local inn in Taquile, we can walk through its hills and archaeological sites. In the afternoon we will be back to Puno and at night we will go to the bus station to board the bus that will take us to the city of Cusco

    DAY 8: CUSCO CITY AND VICINITY:

    We will be arriving to the city of Cusco at approximately 6 in the morning. A member of Cuscoperu.com staff will be waiting for you for your transfer to the hotel. You will have the morning free to rest and in the afternoon approximately 1:10 p.m. we will pick you up from the hotel and begin our tour of the city, starting with the Cathedral of Cusco that houses in its walls artistic treasures of incalculable value, and is considered by many the most beautiful in South America. Then we will visit the Qorikancha- this wonderful temple is considered sacred since it harbored Inca priests in charge of worshiping the Sun God, it is also the only enclosure that served only as a temple, it was not evidenced that anyone had lived in this temple.
    We will continue our guided tour of the archaeological centers located around the city of Cusco, starting with Sacsayhuaman- this Quechua name means "satisfied hawk" -which was built with huge blocks of stone. We will continue our tour visiting Puka Pukara, called the Red Fortress, which is built with stones that in the sunset acquire a red color tone.     DAY 9: SACRED VALLEY - CUSCO - PISAC - OLLANTAYTAMBO - CHINCHERO - CUSCO:

    Full day excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Breakfast at the hotel. At 8:00 a.m. we will pick you up from your hotel and start visiting the archaeological center of Pisac located 45 minutes from Cusco. Pisac will give you an idea of ​​the advanced knowledge that the Incas achieved in architecture and astronomy. Some studies reveal that it was not a fortress, but a kind of "real estate" owned by the Inca Pachacutec, composed of platforms, domestic structures, ceremonials and aqueducts that provided water for agricultural exploitation. Another good reason to visit Pisac is its craft market, where you can find some unique and authentic memories.
    At noon we will go to the town of Urubamba (capital of the Sacred Valley of the Incas) where we will enjoy a buffet lunch that will allow you to taste the delicious Peruvian cuisine. Urubamba was one of the main agricultural centers of the Inca Empire. Currently, the best corn in the world is harvested, and in the rainy season the fruits of the valley are abundant, such as peaches, capulí, quince, strawberries of the highest quality, among others.
    In the afternoon we will visit the Ollantaytambo fortress that constituted a strategic military, agricultural and religious center to administer and control the Sacred Valley; this is deduced by the constructions that presumably were for agricultural deposits and for military use as walls and watchtowers (probably to protect themselves from the jungle ethnic groups). This archaeological site comprises a series of superimposed terraces, showing the impressive and large stone blocks finely carved and located on the upper terrace.
    On the way back to Cusco we will visit the town of Chinchero, known as “the city of Arco Iris”, where we will visit the church of "Nuestra Señora de Monserrat" built in 1607 on the Tupac Yupanqui palace, we will also see the “andenería” and its market of artisans . Finally we will arrive in Cusco at the end of the afternoon. Night in Cusco.

    DAY 10: INCA TRAIL- CUSCO- KM 82- WAYLLABAMBA- YUNCACHIMPA

    We will leave Cusco (3350m.a.s.l. / 10990ft) at 5:30 a.m. We will travel in a tourist bus and we will go to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Before arriving at our starting point, Km. 82, we will make a short break in Ollantaytambo and have the option to have breakfast.
    The official start of the Inca Trail is at the place called Km. 82. There we will meet the rest of the group and we will take care of the registration procedures. After crossing the Urubamba River (2200m.a.s.l. / 7217ft) we will start the legendary Inca Trail that leads to the Inca city of Machu Picchu. The first day the road is relatively easy and will serve as a warm-up for the following days. In "Miskay" we will have lunch on a small river bank while receiving information about the archaeological complex of Llactapata. After lunch, we will continue our trek to Wayllabamba (3100m.a.s.l. / 10170ft) and ascend to Yuncachimpa (3300m.a.s.l. / 10826ft), where we will camp and spend the night. From here, we have a great view of the mysterious snowy "La Verónica".

    DAY 11: INCA TRAIL – YUNCACHIMPA – LLULLUCHAPAMPA – COVE WARMIHUAÑUSCA – PACAYMAYU – RUNKURAKAY PASS – CHAQUICOCHA

    The second day is free walking, this means that the whole group should walk at their own pace, but do not worry, we will meet during small breaks and we will see each other constantly in the stands.
    Early in the morning, the road will take us through the Llulluchapampa Valley (3850m.a.s.l. / 12631ft). The first 3 kilometers are composed of bleachers, we will enjoy the humid forest and the sounds of the water.
    From Llulluchapampa we will follow the path for 2 - 3 hours until reaching the highest point of this section: "El Abra Warmihuañusca" (in Quechua: dead woman) (4200m.a.s.l. / 113780ft). This climb is known as the most difficult part of the Inca Trail.
    After a short rest at the summit, we will continue the trek down with a long and steep descent towards the Pacaymayu river (river dawn) we will pass through Runkurakay (3050m.a.s.l. / 10007ft) until we reach our camp called Chaquicocha (3650m.a.s.l. / 11975ft). Here we can relax from the hard walk, while enjoying a breathtaking view over the mountain.

    DAY 12: INCA TRAIL– CHAQUICOCHA – PHUYUPATAMARCA – WIÑAY WAYNA:

    The third day is the most beautiful; we will notice a change in the ecosystem as we walk towards the Wiñayhuayna rainforest. We will pass two small lakes at the top of the second pass (3950m.a.s.l. / 12959ft). Then we will wait for a gentle ascent through a beautiful cloud forest and a small Inca tunnel before the third open (3700m.a.s.l. / 12139ft) offers a magnificent view over the Valley and the Urubamba River.
    The nearest town is Phuyupatamarca -"City on the clouds" (3600m.a.s.l. / 11811ft), a well-preserved site with a long chain of Inca baths, where you can enjoy the impressive ancient engineering.
    We will pass through another Inca tunnel before visiting the ruins of Wiñayhuayna "always young" (2650m.a.s.l. / 8694ft). The Inca stairs are transformed into a zigzag path until we reach a white building with a red roof where we will make our last camp. We will have hot water ($ 5.00) and bottled drinks.

    DAY 13: INCA TRAIL– WIÑAYWAYNA – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO:

    After our breakfast at 4:30 a.m. we will go, equipped with lanterns, to the Intipunku (Door of the Dun) to get the first glimpse of Machu Picchu and see the sunrise. The last triumphal descent will take almost an hour before visiting the citadel of Machu Picchu (2400m.a.s.l. / 7874ft); we will arrive around 8 a.m. We will enjoy its spiritual charm during a guided tour (approximately two hours) that will help you understand the meaning and ancient use of different buildings. After this guided tour you will have enough time to explore the archaeological site on your own (for example go out to the Inca Bridge, explore the variety of buildings or climb the Huayna Picchu for an incredible panoramic image). Then a bus will take us to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town). Here you can rest from your pains in the hot springs of Aguas Calientes (10/10) or simply visit the picturesque town. In the afternoon we will board the return train to the Ollantaytambo station, where our staff will be waiting for you to transfer you in our mobility to your hotel in Cusco.
