The Huayna Picchu tourist ticket, or “Wayna Picchu,” allows you to visit the Inca city of Machu Picchu and explore the famous Huayna Picchu Mountain, where you can enjoy a panoramic view and the best postcard-worthy photo of your trip to this wonder.

What is Huayna Picchu?

Huayna Picchu Mountain is located at 2,667 m.a.s.l. (8,750 ft), on the northern side of the Machu Picchu citadel.

Huayna Picchu is a word that comes from Quechua: “wayna,” meaning young, and “picchu,” meaning mountain; its translation would be “Young Mountain.” It can be considered the antonym of the also famous Machu Picchu Mountain, which means “Old Mountain.”

The trail to reach the summit of this mountain is challenging, as it has stairs and narrow, very steep paths.

Huayna Picchu has a viewpoint at the summit that offers one of the best views of the Machu Picchu citadel. You can also see Inca agricultural terraces on the mountainside, as well as a half-built temple known as the “Temple of the Moon.”
