This monument represents the defenders of the homeland during the Peruvian-Ecuadorian War of 1941.
Created as a tribute to mothers by the Municipality of Jesús María, this bronze and granite work represents a woman with two children: one in her arms and another crouching beside her, as if asking to be lifted up.
This monument was created in memory of the pioneer of Peruvian aviation, who flew over the Swiss Alps in a heroic feat that cost him his life. He is considered one of the forerunners of international aviation.
Planted by then President of the Republic Augusto B. Leguía and a delegation from the Republic of Venezuela on December 9, 1924, on the first block of Avenida 28 de Julio, it commemorated the centennial of the Battle of Ayacucho.
The work belongs to Peruvian sculptor Carlos Huertas and was inaugurated on April 24, 1932.
In the eastern section, you will find this monolith-shaped memorial dedicated to the victims of Peru’s internal armed conflict between 1980 and 2000. It was inaugurated in 2005 and declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation in 2022.
Campo de Marte is a public space with free access. It is recommended to visit during the day and check for possible restrictions during official events or special activities.
