To begin this Sacred Valley of the Incas Tour, our transfer will pick you up at approximately 07:00 a.m. from your hotel. We will take a 1-hour trip until we reach Pisac. During the journey, we will have the opportunity to observe the beauty of the Sacred Valley, and the importance it had and still has today for humanity.
Continuing the route, we will visit the archaeological center of Pisac located in the upper part of the town. We will also be able to appreciate how the inhabitants use Inca agricultural techniques to solve the problem of planting on the slopes of the hills and thus achieve the best productivity. Then we will visit the handicraft market of Pisac, full of color, where we can find a diversity of handicrafts for sale. At midday, we will have a delicious buffet lunch at a tourist restaurant in the town of the Urubamba Valley.
After lunch, we will head to Ollantaytambo, located 76 km from the city of Cusco, where we will observe large lithic pieces made of finely carved stone blocks, weighing more than 100 tons, which were brought to this mountain to be used for astronomical purposes that cause worldwide amazement among locals and visitors alike. It is strategically located in the middle of three valleys that open the way to the cloud forest, where, following the course of the river, Machu Picchu is found, one of the 7 Wonders of the World. Ollantaytambo has strategic control points, turning the archaeological site into a fortress.
In addition, the town of Ollantaytambo is recognized as the “Best Tourist Village in the World,” considered a city suspended in time because of its Inca-Colonial urban layout, with extensive use of hydraulic engineering, distributing water through canals that cross its streets while maintaining its original landscape.
On the return to the city of Cusco, we will visit Chinchero: located northwest of the city of Cusco, during the Tahuantinsuyo, the Inca Túpac Yupanqui planned the construction of palaces for the elite.
Currently, the remains of the palace can be seen, on top of which the colonial church stands. Today, it is a tourist attraction because it keeps ancestral traditions alive in agriculture, maintaining the greatest variety of Andean potato production and the practice of weaving with Inca iconography and symbolism, making it an important point for travelers to visit.
