To kickstart our adventure tourism, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 7:30 a.m. We will then embark on the route heading south of Cusco, allowing you to relish the landscapes of potato, quinoa, corn fields, and other crops in the district of Quispicanchis, which translates to "BRIGHT PLACE." After approximately a 2-hour journey, we will arrive in the district of Cusipata, where our base, "Cusipata River Lodge," is located.
Here, you will receive your complete rafting equipment and a safety briefing. Engaging in rafting in the Southern Valley is a unique experience as we have one of Peru's most imposing rivers, which is part of the tributaries of the Amazon River. It is unquestionably one of the best places to engage in such sports and activities, surrounded by stunning Andean landscapes. The Vilcanota River offers class III rapids during the dry season (from April to October) and class III, IV, and IV+ rapids during the rainy season (from November to March).
At this point, our rafting guides will provide you with the appropriate equipment to enter the river. We will start with small practices on the river's flat sections. After a brief practice period, we will embark on our journey through calm waters while admiring the spectacular mountain views, wildlife, and fields along the riverbanks.
Our starting point for the rafting tour is Chuqui (chuquicahuana), where we will navigate through class III and III+ rapids. We will spend approximately two hours in our boats and conclude the rafting adventure at CUSIPATA RIVER LODGE. Here, a hot lunch awaits, and you can enjoy a relaxing sauna before returning in the afternoon.
Our adventure tour concludes in the city of Cusco at 5:00 p.m., marking the end of this thrilling adventure tourism experience.
