Inside, we can still see walls built with great precision by the Incas, as well as artistic Catholic religious pieces.
We will continue our guided tour exploring the archaeological centers near the city of Cusco. We will start with Sacsayhuaman, whose name means "satisfied falcon." This site was built with enormous stone blocks and during the Inca period, it was known as the "house of the sun." It was an important religious center in the local tradition. Next, we will head to Qenqo, a Quechua word that means "labyrinth," named because of its underground galleries and small channels carved in zigzag.

We will start our day with breakfast at your hotel. At approximately 7:30 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel and start by visiting the archaeological center of Pisac, located 45 minutes from Cusco. Pisac will give you an idea of the advanced knowledge that the Incas achieved in architecture in their time.
Some studies reveal that it was not a fortress but a kind of "royal hacienda" during the government period of the Inca Pachacutec, composed of terraces, domestic, ceremonial structures, and aqueducts that provided water for agricultural exploitation. Another compelling reason to visit Pisac is its craft market, where you can find unique and authentic souvenirs.
At noon, we will head to the town of Urubamba to enjoy a buffet lunch that will allow you to taste delicious Peruvian cuisine. Urubamba was one of the main agricultural centers of the Inca Empire. Currently, the best corn in the world is grown here, and during the rainy season, the valley is filled with native fruits such as peaches, capulí, quince, and top-quality strawberries, among others.
In the afternoon, we will visit the fortress of Ollantaytambo, which was an agricultural, religious, and astronomical center. This is inferred from the Colcas, deposits of agricultural products for their conservation based on the wind system (agricultural deposits), and its finely carved and strategically placed stone blocks in the direction of the Sun God to manage and control the Sacred Valley. This archaeological site comprises a series of superimposed terraces, showing the impressive and large stone blocks located on the upper terrace. It is in Ollantaytambo that we will board the train to Aguas Calientes to be able to visit Machu Picchu early the next day.
