Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu 2-Day Tour

A 2-day tour of the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. On the first day, you visit Pisac, with its Inca terraces and artisan market, and Ollantaytambo, with its Inca fortress. In the afternoon, you take the train to Aguas Calientes.

Day 1

The Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu 2-day tour departs around 7:30 a.m., with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. The first destination is the Pisac archaeological site, about 45 minutes from the city.

Pisac stands out for its agricultural terraces and Inca architecture. It was part of the Qhapaq Ñan, the road network that connected different regions of the Tahuantinsuyo. At noon, you continue to Urubamba for a buffet lunch featuring Peruvian food.

In the afternoon, you visit Ollantaytambo, an Inca fortress that served as a military, religious, and storage center. You can see stone walls, terraces, and watchtowers. The town retains its Inca urban layout. Pachacútec developed it as an administrative center for the Sacred Valley.

After the visit, you take the train from Ollantaytambo station to Aguas Calientes, where you spend the night.

In the morning, you go to the bus station to head up to Machu Picchu. The ride takes about 25 minutes along the winding road to the sanctuary entrance.

Your guide accompanies you for approximately 2 hours, explaining the site's history and architecture. The tour covers the agricultural and urban areas: plazas, temples, pathways, stairways, terraces, and aqueducts. Stone walls support the terraces, and the hydraulic system carries water through channels to different sectors.

After the tour, you return to Aguas Calientes by bus. There is time for lunch before taking the return train to Ollantaytambo. Your driver meets you at the station for the transfer to your hotel in Cusco.
