The tour starts early with an excursion to the Sacred Valley at 7:30 a.m. We will pick you up from your hotel and begin by visiting the Pisac Archaeological Center, located about 45 minutes from Cusco.
The name Pisac comes from Quechua and translates into Spanish as “partridge,” a bird that characterizes this district. This site offers a clear view of the advanced knowledge reached by the Incas through its wide agricultural terraces, architecture and urban planning. It has a special charm, as it was part of the Qhapaq Ñan roads, the network that connected the jungle and also served as a route to reach Cusco. Around midday, we will head to the town of Urubamba, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch featuring Peruvian cuisine.
In the afternoon, we will visit the Ollantaytambo Archaeological Center, which served as a storage site for agricultural products and was a strategic area as a military and religious center to manage and control the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This is evident from its structures, which are believed to have been agricultural warehouses and military buildings such as walls and watchtowers. Ollantaytambo is considered a town suspended in time due to its Inca–colonial urban layout. It was the Inca Pachacutec who brought Ollantaytambo to its greatest splendor. It is here in Ollantaytambo that we will board our afternoon train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town), a charming place where we will spend the night and conclude our first day.
