Itinerary Offer to Cusco, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu

DAY 1: Cusco – Sacred Valley — Aguas Calientes

In the morning, around 7:00 a.m., our transportation will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and head toward the town of Pisac.

The drive takes approximately 1 hour, and along the way you’ll see mountain scenery, the Vilcanota River, and vast corn fields. You’ll begin your visit at the Pisac Archaeological Site, known for its terraces, or andenes, strategically built to improve agricultural productivity.

After finishing the visit in Pisac, you’ll be able to explore the handicrafts market, where you’ll appreciate handmade alpaca textile work created by local residents. You’ll also visit silver artisan workshops, where you’ll find a variety of jewelry and learn a bit about how this metal is worked.

At midday, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch at a tourist restaurant in the town of Urubamba, and afterward you’ll continue the tour to the town of Ollantaytambo, located 76 km from Cusco.

The Ollantaytambo fortress served as a control point for travelers entering and leaving the ancient Tahuantinsuyo. Its architecture is made up of large, finely carved stone blocks, used for astronomical observation during Inca times. Ollantaytambo is also considered a town that transcends time, since its houses and streets still preserve pre-Hispanic architecture.

After finishing the visit in Ollantaytambo, our transportation will take you to the train station so you can continue your journey to the town of Aguas Calientes (the train ride takes approximately 2 hours). A hotel staff member will pick you up from the train station and take you to your hotel.

You’ll arrive at the entrance gate, where the guide will begin the tour and provide all the information as you explore the citadel.

The guided tour of the Machu Picchu Sanctuary lasts approximately two hours, during which you’ll learn about the history and architecture of the citadel. You’ll enjoy the natural setting of the cloud forest edge, as well as see the engineering, art, and architecture that blend together perfectly.

The citadel includes an agricultural and urban area with plazas, paths, temples, stairways, terraces, and aqueducts, among other elements, which is why it stands out as a wonder of agricultural engineering.

This Inca city is part of a larger area known as the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, which covers more than 35,000 hectares and is a major tourist attraction. Each year, it draws 1.5 million visitors because of its beauty and majesty.
