Itinerary Tour religious circuit in Cusco

An excursion with a walking tour of Cusco’s churches, accompanied by a professional guide, that will let you discover Viceroyal Cusco—a place full of history and culture—where the cultural blending of the Inca world and Spanish colonial influence is clearly reflected.

To begin this tour, you will be picked up from your hotel, and as your first stop you’ll visit the Church of the Society of Jesus, built during the colonial period (17th century) and famous for its Baroque-style façade. Inside the church, you can climb the stairways up to one of the towers, where you’ll enjoy a privileged view of the Main Square.

Your second visit is the Cusco Cathedral. This impressive church is one of the country’s most important examples of Spanish colonial architecture. It was built in 1559 on the ruins of the ancient Inca citadel and houses a wide variety of artworks and religious objects, including an impressive Baroque-style dome and the cathedral choir, built entirely from cedar wood.

Next, you’ll visit the Archbishop’s Palace. This imposing 16th-century building was constructed by the Spaniards and features beautiful paintings from the Cusco School, depicting biblical scenes and stories from local life. This is also where you’ll find the famous Twelve-Angled Stone.

Then you’ll head to the San Cristóbal Church, a colonial temple perched high above the city and easily spotted from many points in Cusco. Inside, the main altar stands out, featuring highly valuable artistic elements such as a silver altar frontal, and the view from its bell tower is truly unmatched.

This is how our religious circuit tour comes to an end. We hope you enjoyed these mysterious and impressive churches.
