PALCOYO MOUNTAIN OF COLORS TOUR

Our Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain Tour (also known as Palccoyo) is a unique full-day experience. This new route is an excellent alternative to the Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain Tour, as it offers a less crowded route and a shorter hike.

In addition to visiting Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain, you will have the opportunity to visit the 3 bridges (Inca, Colonial, and Republican) in Checacupe, and you can also visit the Stone Forest, a group of rock formations that creates a striking landscape. From this point, you can also enjoy spectacular views of the glaciers of Apu Ausangate.

We will begin this tour with pickup from your hotel in Cusco between 4:00 and 5:00 a. m. Once the group is complete, we will begin the journey by tourist transportation toward the south of the city, traveling through high-Andean landscapes where you will be able to appreciate natural scenery and, in some sections, local fauna from the area.

After approximately 2 hours of travel, we will arrive at the community of Cusipata, where we will make a stop to enjoy an Andean buffet breakfast at a local restaurant.

Then we will continue the journey toward Palcoyo, making a stop in Checacupe, where we will visit its famous three historic bridges: the Inca bridge, the Colonial bridge, and the Republican bridge. This place combines history, culture, and Andean landscapes, so it is also perfect for taking photographs.

Continuing along the route, we will head toward the community of Palcoyo. Upon arriving at the starting point, we will get ready to begin a moderate hike of approximately 1 hour, reaching an altitude of over 4,600 m a. s. l. (15,091 ft). During the hike, we will enjoy the impressive landscapes of the Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain, a less crowded natural setting with spectacular views of different mountain ranges.

Optionally, those who wish to continue the experience may visit the Stone Forest, a natural attraction with surprising rock formations that create a unique landscape. From this area, you can also get excellent panoramic views of the Andean surroundings, which is why it is one of the favorite spots for photographs.

After the visit, we will return along the same path to our tourist transportation to begin the return trip. During the journey, we will make another stop in Cusipata, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch at a local restaurant, ideal for closing the experience with typical food from the area.

Finally, we will continue the return to the city of Cusco, arriving at approximately 4:00 p. m. The tour will end at Plaza Regocijo, located in the heart of the Historic Center, near your hotel.
