Pickup in Cusco and stop in Mollepata

The laguna Humantay tour begins with pickup from your hotel in Cusco at approximately 4:00 AM. We then travel by tourist vehicle for about two and a half hours to Mollepata, in Anta Province.

The itinerary schedules a breakfast stop in Mollepata and time to purchase any additional provisions you may need. We then continue for approximately one and a half hours along a dirt road to Soraypampa. The drive offers the first views of Salkantay Mountain and the surrounding highland scenery.

Soraypampa and the hike to the lake

Soraypampa is located at 3,900 m and marks the start of the hike. The uphill section covers approximately 2 km and usually takes between one and a half and two hours. The actual time depends on the group's pace and each traveler's response to the altitude.

The trail passes mountain scenery and local flora and fauna. The full hike covers a round-trip distance of 7 km, an estimated three to four hours of hiking, and an elevation gain of around 400 m. We continue with breaks and follow the guide's instructions.

Time at Humantay Lake

At Humantay Lake, located at 4,200 m, you will have time to view the turquoise water and the mountains surrounding it. The guide accompanies the group and shares information about the lake and its setting.

The length of the visit may be adjusted according to weather, group pace, and arrival time. We then descend along the same trail to Soraypampa, where the vehicle will be waiting.

Lunch in Mollepata and return to Cusco

From Soraypampa, we drive back to Mollepata for an Andean lunch. After the meal, the tour laguna Humantay continues back to Cusco.

Fui muito bem atendida pelo whatsapp. No dia anterior a visita a Macchu Picchu, Effrain foi ao nosso hotel, explicar todo o itinerário detalhadamente. No dia do passeio nosso motorista, Rosel, estava na porta do hotel pontualmente para nos deixar na estação de trem. De lá seguimos até Águas Calientes onde encontramos nossa guia Maria. It was very well done. CuscoPeru did a fantastic job with my tour. Efrain picked me up on time at the airport. Both Julio and Henry did a great job with super information the first 2 days. The buffet lunch the tour provided was top shelf, including sushi. On day 3 Eddy did a wonderful job explaining all of Machu Picchu. My tour was for Circuit 1, but he somehow managed to get me on Circuit 3 as well. It was a day I will never forget. All hotel accommodations were very comfortable. The trip was great! Our driver Roselito picked us up from the hotel and was very knowledgeable in the history of region, took us on the scenic route. Once we got on the train, it included snacks and drinks (water, coffee, or tea). Once we got to Aguascalientes, we were met by our tour guide Renato and Norma. Norma made sure we met our tour guide Renato, and made sure we got on the bus. Once we arrived at the entrance of Machu Pichu, we were met by our tour guide Renato. It was a pleasant experience. Pictures don’t do the site justice. Our tour guide Renato gave us an overview of the site and significance of the layout. I highly recommend booking with the company, and if possible make sure you get Roselito as your driver from Cusco to the train station.

I had a custom 9-day tour. I told the booking agents the things I wanted see and do in Peru and they came up with an itinerary. I really enjoyed all the day trips and when I needed to make an adjustment during the tour, Efrain (my coordinator) was right on it. He was always available to answer my questions, which really made me feel comfortable travelling alone. Also, the tour guides and drivers were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. What is the difference between the group and private services?

The group service includes shared transportation and guiding for up to 15 travelers. The private service provides private transfers and a private guide. Both published rates are per person and require at least two travelers; we will confirm availability for your date.
