We will then continue our guided tour of the archaeological centers located around the city of Cusco. And if you like the feeling of the night around the square you will find many nightclubs and bars filled with tourists and locals who expect to have fun with good music and drinks.
Full day excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Breakfast at the hotel. At 8:00 AM we pick you up from your hotel and start visiting the archaeological site of Pisac located 45 minutes from Cusco by private transport. Pisac will give you an idea of advanced knowledge achieved by the Incas in architecture. As in other Inca constructions, some studies show that this was not a fortress but a kind of "real estate", property of Inca Pachacutec, consisting of platforms, domestic and ceremonial structures and aqueducts that provided the water for agricultural exploitation. Another good reason to visit Pisac is its traditional market where you can find some unique and authentic memorabilia.
At noon we head to the town of Urubamba where we will have a buffet lunch, which will allow you to enjoy the delicious Peruvian cuisine. Urubamba was one of the main agricultural centers of the Inca Empire. Currently here the best corn in the world is harvested and during the rainy season the fruits of the valley abound, such as peaches, cherries, quinces, strawberries of the highest quality, among others.
In the afternoon, we will visit the fortress of Ollantaytambo, which was a strategic military, agricultural and religious center to administer and control the Sacred Valley of the Incas; this is deduced by the constructions that were presumably used for agricultural deposits, and for military use as walls and watchtowers (probably to protect them from jungle ethnicities). This archaeological site comprises a series of superimposed terraces, showing impressive and large stone blocks finely carved and located on the upper terrace. It is in Ollantaytambo that we will board the train to Aguas Calientes, so that early the next day we can visit Machu Picchu.
Early breakfast at the hotel. At 5:50 AM, we will transfer to the bus station to go up to the Archaeological Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, the journey will take 25 minutes and we will finally get to appreciate the breathtaking sunrise. Here we begin the guided tour of one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World: Machu Picchu. Our guide will tell you about the history and architecture of the citadel. Marvel at the Inca buildings and the natural environment that surrounds it. After the tour you will have free time until 1:00p.m. to continue exploring and take the pictures to remember your visit.
We return by bus to Aguas Calientes and in the afternoon we will have time until 3:30 PM to have lunch, rest and visit the town. At 4:30p.m. we board the train to Cusco, arriving at approximately 6:30p.m. We will pick you up from the train station to transport you to your hotel in Cusco. Hours may vary based on the departures of trains you choose.
For this day, we have planned our trip to the city of Puno, so we will have a bus service with stops at places of tourist interest. We will visit the pre-Inca citadel of Pikillacta, in Quechua "Ciudad de las Pulgas", one of the most spectacular centers of the Wari culture, consisting of more than 700 structures and walls of almost 12 meters. High.
We will continue to the picturesque town of Andahuaylillas, where we will visit the temple of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas, baptized as the Sistine Chapel of America, for its wealth of colonial art and mural paintings that cover walls, baseboards, ceilings and covers Lunch buffet in a calm and peaceful country setting, where we will delight in the regional culinary art; then we will reach Racchi, where we will visit the spectacular Inca sanctuary built by the Inca Pachacútec dedicated to the great Inca god Wiracocha.
It has a large central wall with a stone base and other walls made of adobe. Around the temple there are several old buildings used as houses or warehouses. In the afternoon we will arrive to the city of Puno at your selected hotel.
Early in the morning, we will leave on an unforgettable excursion on a boat over Lake Titicaca to visit the Floating Islands of the Uros, famous for ancient pre-Inca settlers of the lake, known as the Aquatic Tribe.
The Andean natives build their own islands by periodically adding new layers of totora (Scirpus Totora) plant fiber from the papyrus family. They also use this material to build their houses and boats. We will continue our excursion to Taquile, inhabited by Quechua natives who have developed, generation by generation, an efficient and original social system as well as a magnificent weaving technique. After having lunch at a local inn in Taquile, we will walk through its hills and archaeological sites. In the afternoon we will be back to Puno and we will have the night off.
Beware of cold. We suggest that you carry a small backpack, a camera, wear a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle.
