Cusco South Valley Tour Itinerary

Our transportation and guide will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 a.m., and we will embark on a 40-minute journey to the southwest of the city of Cusco.

Our tour begins with a visit to Tipón, which is part of the Qhapaq Ñan route and is located 25 km. from the city of Cusco. The archaeological site of Tipón, also known as the "Temple of Water," features a complex of agricultural terraces, long staircases, and stone-carved water channels. It showcases unique HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING that is astonishing to both locals and visitors, attracting some of the world's top scientists every year.

Its thirteen terraces are surrounded by perfectly polished stone walls. One of its main attractions is the royal complex; Tipón was a grand sanctuary where water worship took place. Next, we will visit the Archaeological Center of Pikillacta, which is located 30 km southwest of the city of Cusco. Pikillacta is now known as one of the most famous and well-preserved Pre-Inca cities belonging to the Wari culture, covering an area of approximately 50 hectares.

The word PIKILLACTA comes from two Quechua words: PIKI (small or flea) LLACTA (village), and its translation could be "Small Village or"Village of Fleas" .In Pikillacta, with our guide's assistance, you'll explore and appreciate the Pre-Inca stone walls of one of the most significant cities of the Wari culture. It is renowned for its well-planned and organized streets.

As the final stop, we will visit the traditional town of Andahuaylillas, located 36 kilometers from the city of Cusco. Andahuaylillas is part of the Andean Baroque route, and we will explore its incredible chapel, the Church of San Pedro Apóstol de Andahuaylillas, also known as the Sistine Chapel of America, due to its beautiful wooden works, exquisite paintings, and colonial decorations that span from the floor to the ceiling. This showcases the artistry of the Cusqueños and delivers a powerful visual impact inside. One of the curiosities of this temple is that its baptistry features an arch with the inscription "I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen" written in LATIN, SPANISH, QUECHUA, AYMARA, and PUQUINA languages.

Finally, we will return to the city of Cusco, where our tour ends at approximately 1:00 p.m.
