Itinerary Offer to Cusco, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu

DAY 1: CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY - AGUAS CALIENTES

We will pick you up from the airport upon your arrival and transfer you to the hotel. In the morning, around 7 AM, our transportation will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco, and we will head to the town of Pisac. The car journey takes approximately 1 hour, during which you will observe the mountainous landscape of the sacred valley crossed by the Vilcanota River. You will also see vast corn fields, considered the largest corn in the world. We will continue with a visit to the Archaeological Center of Pisac, located at the top of the town. At first sight, the archaeological center stands out for its strategically built terraces or platforms to improve agriculture productivity.

After concluding our visit to Pisac, we explore the artisan market, where you will have the opportunity to appreciate the handwoven alpaca textiles made by local residents. Additionally, we will visit the silver artisan houses, where you will find a variety of jewelry and learn about the manipulation of this metal. At noon, enjoy a delicious buffet lunch at a tourist restaurant in the town of Urubamba.

After lunch, we continue our tour to the town of Ollantaytambo, located 76 km from Cusco. The Ollantaytambo fortress is strategically located in the middle of three valleys that lead to the lower jungle of Cusco, controlling the entry and exit of travelers in the ancient Tahuantinsuyo. Its architecture consists of finely carved large stone pieces, used for astronomical observation in the Inca era. These colossal stones were transported by the Incas from one end to the other between two mountains and crossed the Vilcanota River, a feat that still amazes everyone who visits this site. Ollantaytambo is also considered a town that transcends time, as its houses and streets still preserve pre-Hispanic architecture while maintaining its natural landscape.

After our visit to Ollantaytambo, our transportation will take you to the train station, and you will continue your journey to the town of Aguas Calientes (approximate train travel time is 2 hours). A hotel representative will pick you up from the train station to take you to the hotel.

We will reach the entrance gate where our guide will start the tour, providing you with all the information as we explore the citadel.

The guided tour of the Machu Picchu Sanctuary lasts approximately two hours. Our guide will provide details about the history and architecture of the citadel. You will be fascinated by the impressive Inca structures and the natural environment surrounding them. Machu Picchu represents a marvel of engineering, art, and architecture that integrates perfectly with nature.

The citadel comprises an agricultural and urban area that includes squares, roads, temples, stairs, terraces, and aqueducts, among other elements. Its design incorporates features such as agricultural terraces or platforms, supported by stone retaining walls, and a hydraulic system consisting of canals and aqueducts for water transport. Machu Picchu stands out as a marvel of agricultural engineering. This Inca city is part of a larger area known as the Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary, which covers more than 35 thousand hectares and is a tourist attraction of great importance.
