We will start our adventure "Inti Raymi 2024 Cusco and Machu Picchu" by welcoming you and picking you up at Cusco airport to comfortably transfer you to your hotel. In the afternoon, around 12:30 p.m., we will pick you up from your hotel to begin our journey. We will start this tour with a visit to the famous city of Cusco (City tour). Our first stop will be the renowned Cusco Cathedral, one of the main temples of the city, housing priceless historical pieces and artworks, considered by many as one of the most significant and beautiful in South America. Next, we will visit the Qorikancha Temple or Temple of the Sun, a marvelous religious temple considered sacred by the Incas, as it was a place to worship the God "Inti," meaning Sun. Today, you will find interesting enclosures inside.
We will continue our guided tour to the archaeological sites around the city of Cusco, starting with the majestic Sacsayhuaman. Its Quechua name means "satisfied falcon" and was built with enormous stone blocks. In Inca times, it was called the house of the "Sun" and was a significant religious center that also protected the city of Cusco from its enemies. We will then visit Qenqo, meaning "Labyrinth," named by the Spanish for its labyrinthine underground galleries and small canals carved in a zigzag pattern. Later, we will move on to Puka-Pukara, known as the red fortress, named for the color of its stones. Finally, we will explore Tambomachay, a place dedicated to the worship of water, supplying this element to the Inca baths and surrounding sites. The culmination of our day takes place in the magnificent Plaza de Armas of Cusco, around 6:00 p.m., offering a closure in a charming and splendid environment.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
After the tour, you can take a stroll around Plaza de Armas and its surroundings, where you can appreciate the work of Cusco artisans in craft shops. You can also taste the famous and unique Peruvian cuisine in nearby restaurants or simply take a break on one of the benches in Plaza de Armas, enjoying the scenery and taking the classic photo for memories in a warm atmosphere despite the cold Cusco nights. And if you enjoy the nightlife, around the square, you will find many discos and bars.
We will start our day with breakfast at your hotel. Around 7:30 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel and start by visiting the archaeological center of Pisac, located 45 minutes from Cusco. Pisac will give you an idea of the advanced knowledge that the Incas achieved in architecture during their time.
Some studies reveal that it was not a fortress but a kind of "royal estate" during the rule of Inca Pachacutec, consisting of terraces, domestic and ceremonial structures, and aqueducts that provided water for agricultural exploitation. Another compelling reason to visit Pisac is its artisan market, where you can find unique and authentic souvenirs.
At noon, we will head to the town of Urubamba to enjoy a buffet lunch, allowing you to taste delicious Peruvian cuisine. Urubamba was one of the main agricultural centers of the Inca Empire. Currently, it grows the best corn in the world, and during the rainy season, the valley is filled with native fruits such as peaches, capuli, quince, and first-class strawberries, among others.
In the afternoon, we will visit the Ollantaytambo fortress, which was an agricultural, religious, and astronomical center. This is deduced from the Colcas, agricultural product deposits for conservation based on the wind system (agricultural deposits), and its finely carved and strategically placed stone blocks facing the Sun God to manage and control the Sacred Valley. This archaeological site comprises a series of superimposed terraces, showing the impressive and large stone blocks located on the upper terrace. In Ollantaytambo, we will board the train to Aguas Calientes to visit Machu Picchu early the next day.

Finally, the day has arrived to enjoy Inti Raymi 2024; it takes place once a year, specifically on the winter solstice and was of utmost importance to the Incas. We will witness the performance of this Festival of the Sun, an ancient Andean religious ceremony in honor of Inti (Sun God). Every June 24, the day when the sun is farthest from the earth, the Inti Raymi or "Festival of the Sun" is celebrated. It remains the most important religious festival during the time of the Incas. To this day, it continues to be represented in the architectural complex of Sacsayhuaman.
The Inti Raymi takes a whole day, starting at approximately 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Our team will pick you up from your hotel around 7:45 a.m. to head to the Qorikancha Temple. The ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Qorikancha temple on Av. el Sol. You can witness the entire ceremony, which will take approximately an hour. Then, we will walk to the Plaza de Armas to continue participating in this Andean festival; this ceremony lasts another 45 minutes, observed standing from a point in the Plaza de Armas.
Later, always with the assistance of our team, you will walk to the bus that will take you directly to Sacsayhuaman, where the main offering, worship, gratitude, and requests to the Sun God will be dramatized. Here, the ceremony will last approximately 3 hours, and you can watch it seated in reserved seats.
