June is the most important month for Cusco because this month was chosen by the Incas to carry out the most important festival of the Inca Empire the Feast of "Inti Raymi" or feast of the Sun. Today Cusco continues celebrating this festival every June 24 of each year. Thus this tour package is designed to enjoy the most important festival of Cusco, the Inti Raymi, The party starts in the temple of Koricancha, and ends with a lavish ceremony on the esplanade of Sacsayhuaman. DAY 1: JUNE 22, CUSCO CITY AND ITS SURROUNDINGS:

Welcome and pick-up from Cusco airport to transfer you to your hotel.

In the afternoon, we will visit the magical city of Cusco and the Inca buildings that surround the city.

Beginning at the Cathedral, Qoricancha, Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Puca - Pucara and finally Tambomachay.

DAY 2: JUNE 23, SACRED VALLEY:

The tour starts picking you up from your hotel at 08:00 a.m. to travel to the Sacred Valley.

First, we'll know the village Pisac famous for its handicrafts, where we will also visit the archaeological site.

At noon, lunch in Urubamba, then we'll visit Ollantaytambo with beautiful agricultural terraces and impressive Inca temples.

To finish the day, we will visit Chinchero and will know the "Church of Our Lady of Monserrat".

DAY 3: JUNE 24, SUN FESTIVAL - INTI RAYMI:

Early in the morning, we picked up from your hotel, then we will go to the temple of Qorikancha to appreciate the initiation of the famous “Fiesta del Sol” then with your group, and your guide will go to the Main Square where the Inca will give a message to the people of Cusco. DAY 4: JUNE 25, CUSCO - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO:

Inti Raymi is the Sun Festival held at the winter solstice in the Andes, in honour of the most important Inca deity, the Sun God. Every year on June 24, the representation of this ceremony in the "Plaza de Armas/Main Square" is made and Sacsayhuaman, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy the most important festival of the Inca Empire.

This is the best time to visit Cusco, besides knowing the most important archaeological remains, you have the opportunity to enjoy a magical travel through time.

DAY 1, JUNE 22: CUSCO CITY AND VICINITY.

Welcome from the airport and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, at approximately 1:00 PM, we will meet at the hotel and start our city tour. Starting with the Cathedral of Cusco, we will find in its walls priceless art and treasures, which is considered by many the most beautiful works of art in South America. Afterward, we will visit the Qorikancha.

This wonderful temple is considered sacred because it harbored priests of the Inca Empire that were in charge of worshiping, Inti, the Sun God. We will then continue our tour of the archaeological centers located around the city of Cusco. Starting with Sacsayhuaman, the Quechua name means "satisfied falcon" which was built with huge stone blocks. At the time of the Incas, it was called the "house of the sun" and was a religious center of great importance in local tradition. Afterward, we will visit, Kenko, Quechua word meaning "Labyrinth" coined by the Spanish for its labyrinthine underground galleries and small canals carved zigzag. We will continue our tour visiting Puka-Pukara, called the Red Fort, which is built with stones in that tone of colour. And finally, we will arrive at Tambomachay which was an Inca temple to worship the water. Our tour ends at the Plaza de Armas of Cusco, at approximately 6:00 pm.

Recommendations: After the tour, stroll through the Plaza de Armas and surrounding areas, where you can appreciate the work of the Cusqueñian artisan craft stores. DAY 2, JUNE 23: SACRED VALLEY CUSCO – PISAC – OLLANTAYTAMBO – CHINCHERO.

Breakfast at the hotel. At 8:00 AM pick up from your hotel and start visiting the archaeological site of Pisac located 45 minutes from Cusco by private transport. Pisac give you an idea of advanced knowledge achieved by the Incas in architecture. As in other Inca constructions, some studies show that this was not a fortress but a kind of "real estate", property of Inca Pachacutec, consisting of platforms, domestic and ceremonial structures and aqueducts that provided the water for agriculture.

Another good reason to visit Pisac is its traditional market where you can find some unique and authentic memorabilia. At noon we head to the town of Urubamba where we will have lunch, a buffet where you can enjoy the delicious Peruvian cuisine. Urubamba was one of the main agricultural centers of the Inca Empire. Currently here the best corn in the world is harvested during the rainy season and the valley own fruits abound, such as peaches, cherry tree, quince, strawberries, among others.

In the afternoon, we will visit the fortress of Ollantaytambo, which was a strategic military, agricultural and religious center to manage and control the Sacred Valley of the Incas; the constructs were presumed to be used for agricultural, as well as for military. Walls and watchtowers (probably to protect them from jungle ethnicities). This archaeological site comprises a series of superimposed terraces, showing impressive and large stone blocks finely carved and placed on the upper deck. Way back to Cusco visit the town of Chinchero, known as the city of the rainbow, discover the church of Our Lady of Monserrat built in 1607 on Tupac Yupanqui Palace, also see terraces and craft market.

DAY 3, JUNE 24: SUNFEAST - INTI RAYMI:

Inti Raymi - Sunfeast

It is an ancient Andean religious ceremony in honour of Inti (Sun God), which every winter solstice takes place. Each June 24, the day when the sun is at its farthest point from the earth, is celebrated Inti Raymi or "Festival of the Sun", of fundamental importance in the Inca Empire. This was the most important religious holiday during the time of the Incas. Until today, it still represents the architectural complex of Sacsayhuaman.

Inti Raymi takes a whole day, starting at 08:30 a.m until 04:00 p.m.

We'll pick you up from your hotel at 07:45 a.m to head to the Temple of the Qorikancha

At 08:30 a.m starts the ceremony in front of the Temple of Qorikancha in Av. del Sol. The whole ceremony will be appreciated standing with the assistance of a group guide, it will take about an hour.

Always accompanied by the guide group, you'll move walking to the "Plaza de Armas/Main Square" to continue the ceremony, the ceremony lasts another 45 minutes, it is also appreciated standing from a point on the "Plaza de Armas/Main Square".

Then, with the assistance of a guide, you'll head walking 3 minutes to the tourist bus that will take you to Sacsayhuaman, where the main ceremony offering, gratitude and orders the Sun God will be staged, here the ceremony will last for 3 hours approximately the same as you may appreciate sitting in reserved seats.

After the ceremony always with the assistance of a group guide, you'll take the bus back to the city of Cusco.

Very early, at 5:50 AM, we transfer you from your hotel to the train station. At 7:20 AM, we board the train that passes through the Sacred Valley to the village of Aguas Calientes. In Aguas Calientes, we take the bus to take us to Machu Picchu Archaeological Park, situated on top of a mountain. In Machu Picchu our tour guide will assist you to know better the history and architecture of the Inca City of Machu Picchu. Marvel at the buildings and Inca temples, beside the natural surrounding environment. After the tour we will have until 2:00 pm to roam freely Machu Picchu. In the afternoon, at 4:30 pm board the train back. Around 6:30 pm we meet you at the station and transfer you to your hotel in Cusco. Hours may vary based on the outputs of trains and train service you want to travel.
