Currency and Exchange Rate
The official currency of Peru is the Nuevo Sol (S /.) Divided into 100 cents. Coins are in denominations of 10, 20 and 50 cents, 1, 2 and 5 Nuevos Soles and notes of 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 soles. (Beware of counterfeit notes and coins).

The Dollar is accepted by most people and shops of Peru. There are four ways to change dollars: In hotels, at banks, exchange houses and independent street moneychangers.
It is advisable to change in the legal exchange houses, as they are safer than the streets independent moneychangers and pay more than the hotels and banks. Exchange houses normally about dollars and euros, to change other currency check with your travel agent.
