Wayna Qhapaq Palace
Located between the existing streets Loreto, the Sol avenue and the Main Square. Today we can find in this place The ¨Compañia de Jesus¨ Church.
Amaru Kancha, is a Quechua expression that means: enclosure of the snakes or the field of snake, This palace was built by Wayna Qhapaq and was the residence of Tumipampa Ayllu, was separated from the AcllaIntiWasiK'ijllu, extending southwest to the river and its western side Saphy overlooked the Waqaypata.
In the allotment of land this house was given to Hernando Pizarro,Manzo Sierra deLeguizamo, Antonio Altamirano andto Alonzo Mazuela,was later occupied by the Jesuits who built the Church of the ¨Compañia de Jesus¨.
What remains of the palace is very little. In Loreto street you can see the walls corresponding to the palace of Wayna Qhapaq,within what was the palace even today we see the Church of Compañia de Jesus,The Palace of Justice and the auditorium of the San Antonio Abab of Cusco National University.
