Itinerary Tour to Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and 7 Colors Mountain

DAY 1: CUSCO CITY AND SURROUNDINGS

Upon your arrival at Cusco airport, we will be there to give you a warm welcome. We'll head to your hotel, providing the necessary transportation for you to settle in and enjoy a well-deserved rest. Once you've had a chance to settle, we'll start your experience in the beautiful city of Cusco and its various Incan sites in the surroundings. For this exciting start, we'll be ready to pick you up at 1:30 PM.

We begin our tour at Cusco Cathedral, adorned with fine carved woodwork and impressive altars and beautiful paintings, created by local artists of the Cusco School.

Next, we'll take a walk through the streets of the historic center towards Qoricancha or the Temple of the Sun, dedicated to the deities of the Sun God, the Moon, the Stars, the Rainbow, Thunder, and Lightning. Here, you'll appreciate the fine lithic technology work done by the Incas, with the highest level of stone cutting in hard stone, stable to this day despite earthquakes.

After the visit to Qoricancha, the transportation will take us to Sacsayhuaman located 3 km from the city of Cusco. The esplanade of Sacsayhuaman offers a panoramic view of the city of Cusco. Sacsayhuaman was built with large blocks of limestone weighing 25 to 130 tons. Comprising three superimposed terraces in a zigzag shape, this place, being large and spacious, was used for gatherings and various festivities such as WARACHIKUY and INTI RAYMI.

We will also reach Qenqo, which means labyrinth, located one kilometer from Sacsayhuaman. It features a construction based on limestone rock that shows stone sculpture, accompanied by structures that, according to historians, served for astronomical, religious, and embalming or mummification studies.

We'll visit Puka Pukara, derived from the Quechua words Puka (red) Pukara (fortress), meaning "red fortress." It served as a strategic site for control and surveillance of access and exit from the Imperial City of Cusco, used as a territorial border to divide regions and establish displacement regimes. Finally, we'll visit Tambomachay, a resting place located 9 km from the city of Cusco, known as the Inca Baths for its water sources or also known as the Waters of Eternal Youth due to the constant flow of its waters. Thus, we conclude our City Tour near the main square of Cusco.

INCLUDES:

  • One night hotel stay in Cusco.
  • Entrance to Cathedral, Qoricancha, Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puka - Pukara, and Tambomachay.
  • Tourist transportation.
  • Professional guide English – Spanish.
  • Pre-tour assistance.

NOT INCLUDED:

  • Meals.
  • Other services not mentioned.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

After the tour, a stroll around the Plaza de Armas and its surroundings is inevitable. In the vicinity, you can savor Peruvian cuisine in nearby restaurants or simply take a break on one of the benches in the Plaza de Armas and take the classic photo for remembrance in a warm atmosphere. If you enjoy the night, around the square, you'll find many discos and bars.

DAY 2: CUSCO - SACRED VALLEY - AGUAS CALIENTES

We will visit the Archaeological Center of Pisac located at the top of the city. We can observe how the inhabitants use Inca agricultural techniques to solve the problem of planting on the slopes of the hills and achieve the best productivity.

Next, we explore the handicraft market of Pisac, full of colors and a wide variety of crafts. At noon, we'll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch at a tourist restaurant located in the Urubamba Valley. After lunch, we'll head to Ollantaytambo, located 76 km from the city of Cusco. There, we'll marvel at the imposing lithic pieces, meticulously carved stone blocks, some weighing over 100 tons. These stones were transported to the mountain for astronomical purposes, an achievement that amazes the world.

Ollantaytambo is strategically located amid three valleys, marking the transition to the eyebrow of the jungle. The city of Ollantaytambo has been recognized as the "Best Tourist Town in the World." It is considered a city suspended in time due to its Inca colonial architecture, with a clever hydraulic engineering system that distributes water through channels that run through its streets, maintaining its original landscape.

From Ollantaytambo, we will transfer to the train station to depart for Aguas Calientes, a journey that takes approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes. Along the way, you can delight in the lush vegetation of the jungle and enjoy panoramic views of the Vilcanota River. Upon arrival, you will be taken to your hotel to settle in. Situated on a summit at 5,100 meters above sea level (16,732.28 feet), it's interesting to note that this altitude is similar to that of the Everest Base Camp, the world's highest mountain, and it is located 100 km southeast of Cusco.

Upon reaching the viewpoint of Vinicunca (5,100 meters above sea level), our guide will provide an entertaining explanation of the orography, ecosystem, and color of the mountain.
