The site was important since the time of the Inca Empire, as it is thought that the area where the building is built was part of the hall of the Temple of the Sun (Qorikancha) and the Great Sun Square (Intipampa).

After conquering the conqueror Francisco Pizarro's brother, Gonzalo Pizarro, took over the Inca palace that was on this site, and then sell the Marquis Juan de Salas, who built a two story house, using the Inca walls and entering the stone arches.

It is decorated with embossed rosettes and columns, the lintel is carved in one piece lytic. It can be appreciated four busts and coat of arms in this lintel. Today it has become one of the best known hotels in the city "Hotel Libertador".
