Das Tambopata- Nationalreservat befindet sich im südöstlichen Teil der Region von Madre de Dios, Provinz von Tambopata und umfaßt 274690 Hektar.

Die jährliche Temperatur beträgt 25°C. Ab Dezember bis April ist es Regenzeit; von Mai bis November Sommerzeit

Es umfasst ein Gebiet von 215.868.96 Hektar und liegt im zentralen Teil des Flussgebietes von Urubamba, gelegen an der Ausangate Gebirgskette, Bezirk von Echarate
