Climate: Annual average temperature of 71.6 ºF (the highest of 91.4 ºF and the lowest of 62.6 ºF). The rain season is form January to April.
How to get to Chiclayo?
By air: Domestic flights from Lima – Chiclayo (1 hour approx).
By land: Lima – Chiclayo 480 miles by The Carretera Panamericana Norte (10 hours by car approx.). From Trujillo – Chiclayo 160 miles (3 hours and 30 minutes approx.).
Chiclayo is located in the north coast of Peru and during the colonial period, it was just a village of Indians and meztizos in the road to the old city of Zaña. Fortunately, this city is in the center of a pre-inca archeological area (Mochica – Chimu) where recently scientists has discovered amazing archeological remains as El señor de Sipán en Huanca Rajada, El Señor de Sicán en Batán Grande y the Pirámides de Túcume. And also the inauguration of The Museum of Tumbas Reales de Sipán which has a collection of incalculable value with a recreation that is worth being there. Now days, Chiclayo is the second tourist destination of Peru after Cusco. Chiclayo and its neighboring towns are very famous because they are considered as the land of the witches, a very esoteric region. There are also picturesque fishing inlets that are still working by fishing men. It is advisable to combine your visit with Trujillo.
