URUBAMBA RIVER [English]
As a tributary of the Ucayali river, the Urubamba River runs through much of the Cusco Region with the name of Vilcanota river, but while passing through the town of Urubamba is named, and before reaching the Amazon, through the last mountains forming the Pongo of Mainique.
This majestic river passes through important sites such as Pisac, Calca, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, and furthermore, provides a great natural attraction when visiting the archaeological remains of Machu Picchu.
The turbulence of the Urubamba River, through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, is suitable for rafting (which many insist on calling canoeing). The Andean landscape in this section of river is very beautiful and the locals are very friendly with tourists, is a pleasant experience for people of adventurous spirit, so don’t miss it!
