As a tributary of the Ucayali river, the Urubamba River runs through much of the Cusco Region with the name of Vilcanota river, but while passing through the town of Urubamba is named, and before reaching the Amazon, through the last mountains forming the Pongo of Mainique.

Siendo afluente del rio Ucayali, el Rio Urubamba recorre gran parte de la Región Cusco con el nombre de rio Vilcanota; pero al pasar por la ciudad de Urubamba recibe su nombre, y antes de llegar a la amazonia, atraviesa las últimas montañas formando el Pongo de Mainique.
