El Warachicuy es una fiesta, una celebración que se realiza todos los años, en la explana de Sacsayhuamán en el Cusco.

En “Los Comentarios Reales” del Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, se consigna con precisión y detalle cada etapa, cada momento de esta ceremonia de iniciación a la vida de adulto.

Reciben el reconocimiento con la entrega de las “waras” que son unas pantalonetas de bayeta que sólo los hombres pueden usar y se transforma en la insignia de la mayoría de edad.

Si bien es una fiesta histórica, recién en 1969 se realiza por primera vez y en la que participan más de 1500 jóvenes estudiantes del Colegio Nacional de Ciencias del Cusco.

En el antiguo Tahuantinsuyo, la disciplina social, el éxito militar se habría logrado a través de esta competencia que va más allá de lo deportivo. El Warachicuy es un rito sagrado y un compromiso para con todo lo que representaba la identidad de su propia cultura

Las pruebas son reales y demandan concentración, fuerza, equilibrio, habilidad y rapidez mental para sortear los riesgos y peligros que presentan la altura o el fuego.

En la actualidad, el ritual del Warachicuy, que se realiza en septiembre, sigue la tradición de otras batallas rituales cusqueñas ancestrales como el Chieraje.

Y es que toda la explanada se convierte en un conjunto de pruebas que simultáneamente se producen y que uno quisiera verlas puntualmente. El color, los sonidos de los pututus, las danzas guerreras completan el espectacular despliegue.

La Municipalidad de Cusco  organiza mediante la Gerencia de Turismo, Educación, Cultura y Medio Ambiente el Festival de Teatro Cusqueño denominado:  “Kusi Tinkuy 2011.”  La actividad se desarrollará del 25 al 29 de agosto del presente año; por lo que, actualmente se reciben las inscripciones de los grupos de teatro que deseen participar del Festival , en el local de la Biblioteca Municipal.
Asimismo, la participación de los elencos artísticos se hará en tres categorías: Instituciones educativas, aficionados y profesionales.
En la primera categoría, de instituciones educativas, participarán actores y elencos teatrales de los centros educativos del nivel secundario, así como de los institutos de educación superior públicos y privados.
En la categoría de aficionados participarán, los actores y elencos de teatro que practiquen el teatro en forma amateur o aficionado. Mientras que en la categoría profesional participarán, los actores y elencos que demuestren su actividad a nivel profesional.
Finalmente, es importante precisar que todos los grupos y artistas que soliciten ser inscritos en el Festival de Teatro estarán sujetos a la calificación y evaluación de los organizadores.

En los últimos años, más de diez estrellas de Hollywood visitaron la ciudadela de Machupicchu, Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad y maravilla del mundo, donde se celebrará este 7 de julio el centenario de su descubrimiento científico.

El actor canadiense Jim Carrey, protagonista de películas como La máscara, fue uno de los últimos que visito la ciudad Inca. Este mostró satisfacción ante la majestuosidad de Machu Picchu.

Antes que él llegaron artistas como Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Ron Howard, Lucy Liu, Adrien Brody, Cameron Díaz, Olivia Newton John, Leonardo Di Caprio, entre otros. Todos estos artistas estuvieron satisfechos con su visita.

La fantasía, los juegos y la inocencia se unen en un divertido corto animado cuyo tema es nada menos que Machu Picchu, que pronto cumplirá 100 años de su descubrimiento.

El corto cuenta la historia de un niño y su llama que juegan con un pequeño avión de papel hecho con una carta que cayó de una avioneta. A esta historia lo llamaron “Machu Picchu Post“.

“Queríamos algo dinámico y fluido. Consideramos que era una buena oportunidad para hacer algo fresco y divertido”, indicó uno de los responsables del proyecto.

La Casa Concha de Cusco, que albergará las piezas de Machu Picchu devueltas por la Universidad de Yale, será acondicionada con equipos de última generación para museos.

El proyecto Centro Internacional para el Estudio de Machu Picchu y la Cultura Inca (Ciemci), en el cual se convertirá la casa Concha, tiene por objetivo conseguir muchas cosas por ejemplo  equipos de última generación para alojar las piezas arqueológicas de Machu Picchu devueltas por la Universidad de Yale.

El 7 de julio, día central de las celebraciones por el centenario de Machu Picchu, se abrirá el lugar, por lo que se están realizando todas las coordinaciones. Siguiendo el cronograma, las 366 piezas; 15 piezas didácticas; 1,001 fragmentos, entre ellas un esqueleto de un varón de 23 a 25 años; llegarán procedentes de Lima antes de culminar junio.
