Machu Picchu will make contact with the International Space Station [English]
Peruvian and Russian scientists will perform from the citadel of Machu Picchu (Cusco) a radial link with astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS, for its acronym in English) in the context of a congress of satellite technology provided from 23 to 27 August Next, in Lima.
The information was provided on Saturday by the National Engineering University (UNI), the most recognized of Peru in science and math.
The ISS is a complex satellite or multi-national research center that orbits Earth about 360 km altitude at a speed of 28 000 kilometers per second.
The UNI is organizing the event in alliance with Southwest State University in Russia (UESOR) and cosmonauts of the Russian Federal Space Agency to participate with Peruvian scientists as speakers.
The radial link will be held next August 26 with the participation of Russian cosmonauts Aleksandr Fyodorovich and Lazutkin Poleshchuk Aleksander Ivanovich, supervisory experts Orbital Station Mir.
This program is including the development of the first Peruvian nanosatéllite called “Chasqui I” to be sent into space soon.
The scientific congress seeks the participation of academic and scientific institutions, national and international level to contribute to the development of the first Peruvian nanosatéllite, besides strengthening in space research to undergraduate students and graduate from universities in Peru.

Thank you, very interesting. Actually,I was born in Moscow in 1972 but my parents fled and came here to the UK. To be honest, I didnt really care much about my russian history until my mum died recently, now I’ve been trying to discover as much as I possibly can. Seemed like food culture was as good a place as any to start ! You dont generally hear much about russian cuisine do you? Anyway, I found a a good russian recipe site here that other readers might be interested in too.
