Members Paucartambo station in Cusco, found a cock of the rock, endangered species, when they patrolled the road Paucartambo-Kosñipata-Manu National Park, near to the jurisdiction of the district Conchupata.

According to law enforcement officials reported, the beautiful specimen had been stolen from some place within the Manu National Park in Madre de Dios, by suspected traffickers of wild animals that abound in the area.

Paucartambo commissioner, higher PNP Ángel Garrido Pancorbo, explained that the bird had escaped from the traffickers, since part of the wings was cut, being found by police when he tried to take flight.

“These state-protected birds inhabit the Manu and the area of San Pedro in the district of Kosñipata, limit of Cusco and Madre de Dios,it is a protected species in danger of extinction and it is possible that here has been hunted by traffickers and carried to be sold in the black market, “noted the police chief.

The small specimen was taken to San Pedro and delivered, – after signing a record- to the citizen Jose Guillermo Galdos Morales, manager of the hostel lodge Cock of the Rock, to take charge of their care and feeding. Once in good condition will be released.
